beowulf 1 #2 September 26, 2005 I have a 650. It is a company phone. I probably would never buy one myself. I don't think they are worth the money for how much I use the extra features.

Something better for the price? i have the 650 and contrary to the second poster, i think it is definately worth the money...you can get one for 299 right now. most of my work documents I can carry on the device which makes travel alot more convenient. email, fast web access, good phone, great camera and video, etc. i love it. -the artist formerly known as sinker
beowulf 1 #4 September 26, 2005 I think it would be worth the money if I actually needed the extra features that a pda phone offers. It is a great phone. It is just much more then I need.
Zenister 0 #5 September 26, 2005 some of the phone functionality annoys me.. i have to use a headset for most things to be heard clearly unless i'm in a quiet room and the fact that its only dual band vs triband means it is less useful as a pure phone than my previous, but the PDA functions mean i dont have to drag my laptop everywhere i go.. so its got its pluses and minuses, I really like mine, but i might be getting a dedicated 'pure phone' still... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. ccowden 0 #6 September 26, 2005 Well, the phone would be very important. Would you suggest something different? Maybe a phone with some added features? Most newer models of phones do alot of stuff, but I like the keypad option of the TREO.
mdrejhon 8 #7 September 26, 2005 For videos and MP3's, the Treo is pretty good. Palm is a longtime favourite of many PDA users. A good site for TREO's is at www.TreoCentral.com. The 650 is the device these days, rather than the 600. (Although there were some issues with the 650 when it first came out). Palm also announced the Treo 700 which runs Windows Mobile. Unfortunately, I find the Treo's quite fragile - they usually break on a 3 foot drop to concrete. For reliability, emails, instant messaging, and checking weather forecasts, and device durability (easily survive repeated 3 foot drops to concrete, and ability to survive a 5 foot tumbling drop onto airplane hanger concrete - true story), I would recommend a BlackBerry (The new bright-screen models, 7290, 7520, or 7250. See www.BerryFAQ.com). They finally view photographs pretty well now (unlike the older dim screen BlackBerries). However, these may be more for data addicts... There are other phone keyboard devices as well, some by NOKIA, and a new keyboard device is coming out by Motorola soon (the new Motorola "Q"). If you wait until Christmas or Spring 2006, you'll have a bigger choice, with more and better phone devices.
Ashtanga 0 #8 September 26, 2005 One of my best clients at work is Earthlink. They are expanding their business and are going into all sorts of communications not just internet now. Here is a link to their service and you can get a TREO 650 for $199.00. I have one on the way. http://www.earthlink.net/wireless/treo/
labrys 0 #9 September 26, 2005 I work for a company that provides service for them. I also have one. Functionally, it's outstanding but mechanically it leaves a lot to be desired. It tends to lock up and require a soft reset when I lose signal (a very common problem with our clients who use them also). There was a firmware update to correct that problem but it didn't work well at all. My biggest (and weirdest) complaint is the design of the touch screen. When it's in phone mode and I'm listening to my voicemail my ear sometimes touches the screen at the "2" key and deletes my messages . You might have to see one to understand that. I find the camera almost useless. Mine usually produces dim and fuzzy images. If I had a better quality phone with the same features I'd love itOwned by Remi #? wildblue 7 #10 September 26, 2005 As a PDA/internet device, it's great. As a phone... not so much. Invest in a decent headset for it and you'll be happier. Go with the 650 if at all possible, and find aservice provider that has a flat rate for data (I have Sprint, and their service is kind of crappy, but they only charge $10/month for unlimited data) -- then you can PW from your phone, use it as a 'modem' with your laptop (with decent speed too) and listen to streaming internet audio in your car it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
