Icon134 0 #1 July 15, 2008 It was rather humid over the weekend here in Ohio and my Viso exibited rather unusual behavior. I use it as a backup (I also have a protrack and an optima) and seldom look at it but on a few jumps after opening the display froze and then the device shut off. after landing I tried to turn it on and the device appeared to enter an error mode of some kind with a "4" on the display and the device would Beep 4 times every few minutes. I haven't actually had a chance to contact L&B about and this shouldn't be missconstrued as a complaint. I'm just curious as to whether this has happened to anyone else?Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

Icon134 0 #3 July 15, 2008 QuoteHow's the battery?I just changed it a month or so ago... and it shows as being about half full on the little display in the corner but I suppose it could be low. I was thinking it might be a humidity issue... it was very humid over the weekend and electronics don't really like temperature and humidity changes... TheCaptain 2 #4 July 15, 2008 I think you are right about the humidity. I do not believe the Viso is even water resistant and I know of someone that did one jump in the rain and toasted his Viso. I would suggest getting their Protecktor item I10508 which can be found on this page ProtecktorKirk He's dead Jim
Fledgling 0 #5 July 15, 2008 I have had that happen to mine as well. I had to take the battery out to get it to stop. I don't know what caused it but I went on holidays for a month and now it works fine again.
erdnarob 1 #6 July 15, 2008 There is the possibility of a discharged new battery. Those batteries last for years and the spare ones can stay on the shelf for years as well. Check the battery with a multimeter or have it checked at the Circuit store. Anyway, if this is not a battery problem you should send a email to Larsen & Brusgaard. They are very nice people.Learn from others mistakes, you will never live long enough to make them all.
fr33flyr 0 #7 July 15, 2008 The exact same thing has been happening to mine over the occasionally over the past two months. I changed the batteries because I thought they were low. It happened again so I replace the batteries a second time thinking I got a bad set. I have figured out that it is due to humidity. This makes sense since mine started to happen as we moved into the wet season in florida and the humidity has gone through the roof. Mine always breaks after a jump when the unit is trying to reset so I just press the reset button with a paper clip and it starts working again. _______________________________ I like life....It's something to do.
