Dougiefresh 0 #2 September 30, 2005 Looks like a kiteboarding kite. Watch out, those suckers can produce some power. I was flying a 3 meter kite on a day when the top winds were 8 mph and I was getting dragged -- kind of the point, you see?Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
BGill 0 #3 September 30, 2005 Dude, those things are a blast if you've got enough wind. It's the perfect toy for bored skydivers on a windy day at the dropzone
hookitt 1 #4 September 30, 2005 Those are fun. It's in the UK, you sure you want to bid on that?My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
NWFlyer 2 #5 September 30, 2005 TallGuy's got one. We were playing with it when we were winded out at the Byron Boogie. Fun stuff! ccowden 0 #7 September 30, 2005 Dude, get a 2 meter from Slingshot. They are perfect for flying at the dz and the quality is WAY better than what you are looking at. I almost guarentee you will bust a line on that on you are bidding on the first time you fly it. The Slingshot kites are really well made with much stronger lines, and I know from personal experience, they will take tons of abuse and out fly those cheaper ones. I have watched many cheap ones snap. I was amazed at the abuse a Slingshot would take. Do a search for Slingshot kite on ebay. They make ones that are 2 metter and way bigger for actually kiteboarding. You will love a 2 meter! Spend the extra money, you won't be sorry.
panzwami 0 #8 September 30, 2005 note to self....these are not toys for keeping oneself occupied at the DZ when the winds are too high for jumping.
piisfish 140 #9 September 30, 2005 QuoteAnyone have experience with one of these? I am bidding on one just for the hell of it. EBAY0.84m is very small. It's gonna fly fast, not very precise, needs a shitload of wind. Will produce decent power with very high wind. Of what I can see on the ebay ad you'll have to change the lines and grips. Go get a flexifoil instead,,,scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
SkiD_PL8 0 #10 September 30, 2005 I am looking at the flexfoils now. What kite would you recommend? This thread sparked my interest and it looks like a fun toy to add to my collection. I want something conservative so my friends could play with it some to. Also should I get handles or a bar? Greenie in training.
piisfish 140 #11 September 30, 2005 super10's are great, you can stack them if you have several for extra power, they can develop high power and speed, but are also very safe as long as you don't do anything stupid. That's for 2 liners... You'll need strong line and best handles are the big wrist handles. In 4 liners too many products... In kites and handles... You'll need to talk to people who are more "in the game" than me. I still fly my old kites and am very happyscissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
