The111 1 #1 October 3, 2005 It's funny I get all my PC help from DZ.com bonfire forum these days... But I can't find this anywhere else. Just installed XP SP2. Am getting "security warnings" whenever I either d/l an exe (using IE) or try to run an exe. I disabled everything I could find in the security center, in my browser settings, and did a million websearches but am stumped. Little help? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Uncheck the box in the lower left corner, the warnings will go away quickly after that.

The111 1 #4 October 3, 2005 Wrong, that is not working, and I definitely tried it before. The note says "always ask before opening this file". If I uncheck that box, I can run that specific exe in the future without a warning. Any other exes I still get warnings.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
BillyVance 35 #5 October 3, 2005 The SP2 package includes security features for your protection. However, you could do away with that warning notice by down-grading your security level settings. I just can't remember exactly where the controls are right now. I have mine set at the highest possible level that still allows me to log on to DZ.com since that involves a cookie or java-script or something, I forget exactly...."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
Guest 1010 #6 October 3, 2005 maybe this ... the shotgun approach ... Control panel, Security Center then turn stuff off like firewall, then turn off virus checking ... but that's not my recommendation. I don't have one, I run norton internet security. You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.
RevJim 0 #7 October 3, 2005 OK, I like that warning, but IIRC, this is how to change it.... Click "Tools" menu on top of IE. Click "Security" tab. Click "Custom Level." Scroll down to "Launch Programs in an I-Frame" (or something like that, and change from "prompt" to "enable." Like I sid, IIRC that should do the trick. You may need to close all IE windows and start IE back up fresh. IMO, I'd leave it alone though...It's your life, live it!
