SarahC07 0 #1 October 5, 2005 I have a dog (a puppy really ) that is probably allergic to something. I was wondering if anyone out there has a dog with allergies and if so about how much do the injections cost? No, I'm not talking about the allergy testing itself. I'm talking about the monthly injections the dog gets to prevent/weaken the allergy. Yes, I could wait until tomorrow to call the Clinic, but I'm just so damn curious right now. hobbes4star 0 #2 October 5, 2005 My dog has horrable allergies.... we give him benadryl. Works like a charm. For a puppy i would ask the vet. oh and make sure it has no sudophedrine just straight benadryl sudophedrine is toxic to dogs and can kill them.if fun were easy it wouldn't be worth having, right? Cornholio 0 #3 October 6, 2005 One of my dogs has allergies. I had her tested a few weeks back and she is practically allergic to everything -especially dog food ingredients like flour, brown rice, and a few others that 95% of dog food is made of. She's also on a special dog food that I can only get at a vet's office that doesn't have those ingredients in it - ZD Ultra by Science diet. She's on allergy shots now. Has been for a couple years. Vet thinks one more year should be enough to start to introduce her to new food and see what happens. I think the first allergy kit (1 yrs worth) was a couple hundred, but the yearly refills I think are about 80. Even with the shots, sometimes in the summer, we have to give her benadryl for a couple months if she starts to get these skin rashes. But she's been off of it for most of this year and is doing pretty good. I'd say over the 3 years, I've spent about 1500 with allergy tests, special diet supplement, doggie dermatologists, and vet bills. But to see her not scratching or breaking out in her rashes since the treatment started has made it worth every penny. Good luck! Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! SarahC07 0 #4 October 6, 2005 Well, my poor pup is just about to be 6 months old. She's been suffering from what we believe to be allergies since she was 3 months old. She respondes to steriods and antibiotics, but not really to benadryl. But of course I can't keep putting her on steriods. She's also on a special diet too. My vet is just concerned that she's so violently reacting to the allergy at such a very young age. But thanks for the responses!
