Expense Reports...

Recommended Posts

I've never turned in one, but I work in accounts payable and I'm the one who has to check all your huge, disorganized, sloppy, messy reports and basically re-do them because they dont know what they are doing, even though we explane it to them over and over again everytime we receive a report.:P I think the largest one we've seen is in the $200,000-ish range.

I used to be able to expense my parking since I was working 12 hours days. I'd submit a couple of months worth of parking receipts at a time- I think the biggest was around $2,000.00. Not as bad as yours, but still, it was only for parking!

Anything after a certain time of night and your employer is supposed to pay your way home (taxi) and feed you dinner. Never got dinner but parking was usually cheaper than cab fare and they paid it without batting an eye! I don't know if that's a law or just customary with downtown companies.

Whatcha do to rack up one of those???

Being the owner of my company, my credit card gets a lot of charges for work, and the company writes the check directly to the card... I think I once purchased a truck on my credit card.

I have an REI (Outdoor membership clothing store) dividend VISA card... I get 1% cash back on everything I spend, 10% if it is REI, with no annual fees, etc... My dividend two years ago was one of the largest in REI, the biggest the store employees ever saw... So, it is not how much you spend, but how much you get to keep.;)

Funniest thing I saw... Remember the movie Airplane where they swipe the credit card for gas... It really happened... I was on a commercial flight, a small 50 seat jet. We got diverted to a city without gates for that airline due to weather and fuel. It was one of those small airlines that the bigger ones hire for puddle jumps...

The gas guy comes on board and says, "I don't have an account for your airline. Cash, Check or Credit Card?". I was in the front seat and could hear the pilot calling his ops center and saying, "So you will pay me back for this, right?" He purchased $6,000 of fuel on his personal card... Old fashioned credit card machine and all.

You are a very smart man!!! :D At my store (I work for REI) we had a guy make all of his mortage payments on his REI visa...needless to say, it was a pretty good sized Dividend check :D

REI rocks :D

I've been told mine are pretty well done and not have to be redone. I even turned this one in late so I could turn it in in dollars and not pounds to make the accountants job easier. Ask riddler, I'm anal about my expense reports.

sheesh...some of ya'll have big expenses!!!

I don’t turn in expenses for my full time job, most of the time, I am too busy trying to purchase merchandise and coding the invoices to get it paid.

The only expenses I turn in is my photography expenses to the magazine company I work for.
They’re usually the one asking me when I will get my expenses turned in. I’m bad but last month I lost track of how much mileage I drove on my car and I just made something up. They never question me on anything but I usually have my own
detailed list of everything attached to the form I turn in. And the stupid thing is, I got a check in the mail this past weekend for my expenses and I can’t find it! I’ve looked for it all week already. I think it’s probably in the trash with a lot of other trash mails. If I don’t find it in another week, I’m going to have to get them to cancel the check and request
another one, I feel retarded about this and they’re probably going to think I’m careless. Has anyone lost their expense check before?

direct deposit. :)

yeah, I should have been smart and done that
but I never considered it since I'm not a full time employee there. But I do I have direct deposit on my checks for my fulltime job though. :)

of course, I am not speaking about you personally, goodnplentygirl.:D:D

Ahhhh, AP...

So you're the one that kicked mine back because I undercharged by $0.25.

You
- made two long distance calls to tell me.
- Fedexed the report back to me.
- sent an email to my boss complaining because I bitched about the extra expense you created.
- and then delayed payment for 3 weeks.

Why didn't you just pay it as it was instead of going through all the rigamorole? I mean, what's 25 cents?
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.
