morningdove831 0 #1 October 6, 2005 My rig got here and I couldn't be happier! It was actually a gift which makes it even better. Today I got to try it on and it fits nicely ... so much better than the student rig I'm using right now! It's a Vector container with a Sabre 135 main and a Raven-M 150 reserve. Very good condition ... we gave it a full inspection today. I'm soooo happy!!! Sled14 0 #2 October 6, 2005 You have 8 jumps and are gonna jump with a 135? I hope your a toothpick
morningdove831 0 #3 October 6, 2005 No, I won't jump the 135 right away! We'll put a bigger main in it for a while until I'm ready to downsize. I'm 5'1" and weigh 97 lbs, so it won't take me terribly long to be ready for the 135. It will hold a bigger main and that's what I'll do until I'm totally ready for the 135. GravityGirl 0 #4 October 6, 2005 What did you jump during your student progression? What will you be jumping as a 150? Congrats on your new rig. That's awesome! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
morningdove831 0 #5 October 7, 2005 Currently on my student progression I'm on a 190 (started on a 210 and downsized after 2 jumps). Next couple will be on a 170 then a 150, then the 135. GravityGirl 0 #6 October 7, 2005 Trust your instincts and go at YOUR own pace. As you ease into the 150s and smaller, please keep in mind that your toggle input is much more sensitive. Practice your flat turns and brake turns BEFORE you get on the 150. Get good at it. No panic turns. If you get a side gust on landing and are being pushed to the side DO NOT REACH to brace your fall, or you will turn yourself into the ground. Just use small input to push back into the wind. Under 1500 feet don't be snapping your toggles too quickly. If you crank a turn in one direction, ease out of the turn before initiating a turn in the other direction. Failure to do so can put you into line twists. That would be bad at a low altitude. There are a lot of things to consider with small parachutes besides wing loading. Feel free to PM me ANY time if a question should arise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
