Snowboarding

That might be Doc, a packer in Davis. I think he used to work at Northstar or Sugar Bowl;. He gave me some advice that helped on my 360's and half pipe skills when we were watching some skiing videos at Skydance later the same day.

I was wearing my camera helmet a few days at Kirkwood this season after skydiving the day before and didn't realize I left my Dytter inside it until it beeped 4 1/2 times at the top of the Wall chairlift.

I think I brought my Neptune with me before too. Maybe I'll see if I can get it to log a jump when I'm tucking a run this season. It's logged a few in the car ride from the mountains and commerical airlines.

I don't think it was, but thanks for trying.

Did you get that snowboarding?

Yep, someone couldn't stop and ran into me from behind grabbed me for balance then shoved me forward and they zoomed past. So watch your back on the mountain I have learned that the greens are the scariest place to be due to people going faster than their abilities and the crowds really allow.

My .02$ learn how to ride a alpine snowboard, hard boots, thin boards, alot of speed and a ground rush like no other when your face is 2 inches away from the snow, ok I know, it's an european thing, but hey there are some alpineboard gatherings in aspen once a season.

Maybe I can get one boarder that's tired of riding a oversized tongue spatula to see the light :P

Good advice :)
Tell me something Jess, how hard is snowboarding on the ankles? I broke my fib/tib in October last year and i skydive with an ankle guard on. Should i just do the same with the boarding> Wear the guard and not worry?

Thanks
PJ

Snowboarding isn't bad on the bones at all. If you have spent the last year healing you should be fine with the guard on, but do ask your doc what he thinks. I know more than one instructor that has been a little injured while teaching, but just like jumping we love, so we do it!

We should hook up that week and ride all together. I work at Mt. Spokane, and hopefully we will be busy, but I can always take a day off to ski another hill!

Jess

P.S. Yes, it might look a little silly, but you skydiving helmut, as long as there is no face mask would work just fine. Might be a little colder though. Wrist gurads, they are hard, and you can find them at any sporting good store, they will know what you are talking about. Also, it sounds like our caravan will be in Richland this winter, where they do jump, so you might be able to get a winter jump in too!

Alanab, are the mountains there open already? If so, I'm jelalous. I'll be up in Tahoe this weekend, but alas only to party. We were getting freshies the weekend before Halloween last year at Kirkwood.

Here in Colorado, we are looking at A-Basin being open on Oct 21, and Loveland is shooting for Oct 16th :)

Ahhh...........I remember the days of $5 night boarding at Mt. Spokane. :D It was best during the 92-93 winter when it snowed like CRAZY and Mt. Spokane didn't close until mid April! PM me a phone number and we'll do some boarding!
