SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 October 7, 2005 I found out that my 10 yr old had his first Red Bull the other night at the skate park. Not sure if I like that idea! He's 10 for Pete's sake, whats he need extra energy for??!!!!!! This skate park is geared towards 18 and younger, they sell gatoraide there, but I'm not sure that its appropriate for them to be selling "energy" drinks. They have rules such as no swearing, they have a swear jar, no smoking, no drinking, so I think they are trying to keep it somewhat "safe" for the kids and I know the owners pretty well. I'll go out on a limb here and say...kids are always looking to push the envelope, experiment, if you catch my drift....my kid knows that the skydivers at the DZ drink these drinks and catch a "BUZZ" so to speak. Should I be worried? Talk to the owners? Tell my son not to drink them? Will it lead to more?? Don't get me wrong here...I'll drink them too, when its been a long day, lack of sleep, tec and I need a lift. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. Rebecca 0 #2 October 7, 2005 Children are the last people who need Red Bull. That's why they made Red Bull - so adults could have little-kid-energy in a can. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk? SkydiveStMarys 0 #3 October 7, 2005 Yeah, I think I know the answer to this one, but wanted an opinion/perspective put on it. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
Ashtanga 0 #4 October 7, 2005 The best thing for kids is to let them drink NyQuil. They get a little stupid and then fall asleep.
skymama 37 #5 October 7, 2005 My son is 14 and I let him have one before his soccer games. Since it's only once a week, I don't think it's really hurting him.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Sopheavy 0 #8 October 7, 2005 I think it's okay to drink it as long as not everday. I hardly drink energy drinks. It doesn't help me and makes me more tired at the end of the day. Coffee doesn't help either nor does sodas when I'm trying to stay awake. Cold showers and pinching myself does not work too when I'm really sleepy/tired. Nothing helps. And I hate that. I long for having kid energy again. When I was a kid, my mom used to give us Nyquil so we would shut up and go to bed. We were always energetic and didn't like going to bed. She stopped though because her and my dad went to visit the next door neighbors and forgot the house keys. They banged and kicked the door so we would wake up to open it but we were so knocked out from Nyquil we didn't hear a thing. So...my dad had to break a little corner in the windows in my room and threw a little rock at me so I would wake up and open the door!
wingnut 0 #9 October 7, 2005 wow, it's just a red bull dude..... when i was a kid there was "jolt cola" that had extra caffeine, hell caffeine is the 7th ingrediant in diet dr. pepper.......(yes, i just looked), i wouldn't sweat it..... but then again what do i know i'm 25 single and have no kids, so i'm no where close to be making a decision onthis, but i know if i had a 10 year old i don't think i would mind as long as it was hours before bedtime...... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
Andrewwhyte 1 #10 October 7, 2005 Ten year olds should not be using caffeine. From the side of a 'Full Throttle' can Cautions: caffeine - not recommended for children. This from the Coca- Cola Company. Of course your kids should also stay away from Taurine, french fries, processed cheese, potato chips,... edited for punctuation. YISkyDive 0 #11 October 7, 2005 I used to drink a ton of red bull when i was 16- the only thing that happened was gain weight. If they are drinking sugar free- hes probably doing better than drinking soda. red bull is marketed towards action sports. Just make sure they arnt drinking more than 1, and they'll be fine.
