The pH change associated with hyperventilation can cause the exact symptoms you describe. 2) Adrenaline 3) True hypoxia. Perhaps you have a small anomaly in your circulation or excessive cardiac shunting previously unrecognized until rapid ascent. --check a pulse oximeter at sea level to detect shunt. All other causes are a distant fourth. 3 ways to help distinguish. 1) Paper bag rebreathing will rule out hyperventilation as your CO2 will not rise even with hyperventilation. 2) You can put an O2 tube into a paper bag therefore you'll be enriching your oxygen content whilst maintaing your CO2 pH level on the ride up. 3) Pulse oximetry on the ground and ride up to see if you're hypoxic. If performed in that order you'll get a quick assessment of the cause but most likely it is just hyperventilation and adrenaline together and will improve as you learn to relax. My first handful of jumps I found I had to remind myself to breath. I wasn't freaking out or scared but it is still a really intense experience. I didn't even realise I was so tense until my instructor said something.
Txflier 0 #29 December 6, 2008 Quote Is this normal? At around 5k i started to feel tingly sensation inside of my body. Its really hard to explain but i guess it was similar to when your arm falls asleep but not AS bad. I only felt this on my last jump sat and was wondering if anyone has felt something similar. Thanks. I've had that happen a couple of times when I was on my bike. only when doing excessively stupid speeds. It is a cruiser but it's 1100 cc's so it get up there. It wouldn't last long but just kind of shoot through my body. But it felt like what you described. kinda like a sleeping limb, but ran through the whole body. I always took it as my body giving me a warning about something like spidey sense . I usually eased up on the speed. Not that you have that option in freefall. Maybe it was just your body telling you that deployment altitude was coming up. No need to spend money on an altimeter you got a built in one. I'm not the rope totin charlie Bronson wanna be that's getting us fucking lost.
