skymama 37 #1 October 19, 2005 What is it? I saw a bottle of it in World Market and am intrigued. The bottle says to mix it with water, rum, vodka, wine or whiskey. skymama 37 #4 October 19, 2005 The bottle already told me what to mix it with, I was just wondering if people had an opinion from personal experience on which mixer tastes the best before I wasted all my alcohol. wmw999 2,602 #5 October 19, 2005 I'd mix it with rum, but that's because I don't like either vodka or whisky, and, well, water is just wrong. Well, you did ask "what is it?" Honestly, I have no clue what my neighbor mixes his with... I just know it's warm and tasty and makes me feel all warm inside. Mmmmm. tigra 0 #7 October 19, 2005 Vodka gives me a headache, and I don't care for wiskey, so I would personally try it with rum.

freeflajankie 0 #13 October 19, 2005 If it's what we drink in sweden then it's Glögg! And it's a drink we have around crhismas. You don't have to mix it with anything. But usually it's mixed with wine and that's what's tastes the best. Me personally like the plain old tomteglögg. Which is without any alcohol. it's hard to explain the tast but you'll probably like it. But to answer your question mix it with red wine or water. And ejoy!Skydivers are a bunch of insensitive jerks... And that's why I don't skydive anymore!

Girlfalldown 0 #15 October 19, 2005 Wow this brought back some memories! A friend of mine used to make this for the holidays every year. He never bought it and mixed it. The way he learned was from his grandfather. Each year, when he was a kid, his grandfather would make glogg. He would give my friend the name of only 1 ingredient each year so it took many years before he had any idea how to truly make it. Years later, we'd come over for the holidays and he'd go into this secret stash and pull out a big jar. Then he'd add some things like raisins and cinnamon sticks and heat it up and serve it in little tea cups. It was sooo good and warm! I only know a couple of the ingredients and that's only from sneeking a peak when he was making it once and from trying to figure out the flavors and him nodding when I got one right. I don't know the order he made it or anything. port brandy rum red wine orange peel cloves raisins cinnamon almonds cardamom (I cheated and got this one off the web) So if you're going to try the premade mix, I'd say mix it with a little port or madeira and some rum. That's the flavor I remember most. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)
Katzeye 0 #16 October 19, 2005 This sounds suspiciously like Mulled Wine... I've only seen the teabags in germany that you steep in warming red wine. Might have to hit World Market so I don't have to make it from scratch for Halloween! Is a chicken omelette redundant?

wmw999 2,602 #19 October 19, 2005 I just read the "world market" part. That stuff is OK, but, well, home made is way better. The recipe that Girlfalldown posted sounds OK, and the real (tm) Swede who posted would be the authority. Unlike him, I prefer the kind with wine. And yes, glogg is basically Swedish mulled wine.
