kodierer 0 #1 June 19, 2008 I currently have 45 jumps, and I am really curious what the best, first canopy I can purchase is. I am 150lbs, and looking to buy a 170, or a 190 sq ft canopy. I have flown spectre, fusion, and sabre-2. I' not sure whether I like the fusion or the sabre better, and think I should make more jumps on both. A lot of people at my DZ jump nitron as well. Anyone have an opinion on what I would be most happy with in the long term?
billeisele 130 #2 June 20, 2008 well, depending upon your: age, physical condition, physical ability, canopy control ability, past performance, field elevation, hand-eye coordination, ability to learn, etc. - the best thing to do is to talk with a qualified instructor What you will be happy with in the long term is: 1) staying healthy, and 2) probably not what you need to jump now. You already had a great idea, "...I should make more jumps on both."Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws. Blink 1 #3 June 20, 2008 Just a side note, the Nitron is a elliptical canopy, and is not recommended for beginners. Other than that, demo different canopies from different dealers.
erdnarob 1 #4 June 20, 2008 Start with a Sabre 2-170 . Sabre-2 turns more flat than the Sabre 1, and has a powerful flare. And you will enjoy it for several hundred jumps. But get briefed for landings. The Sabre 2 is slightly semi elliptical. Better to start with it than a fully elliptical which is more touchy on toggles.Learn from others mistakes, you will never live long enough to make them all.
