If you have one slice of bread and butter it, then put some ham on it, then on top of that put another slice, then cut it in half, what do you have?

One slice or two?

edit- how do I make this a poll?

Or as Frenchy says, "Get women to bring you booze and sammiches." :|

So *that's* what he uses them for. :|

You can't change it to a poll, you have to start out that way.

I've never heard of butter with ham. Is that an English thing?

I grew up putting butter on my ham sandwiches, so it's not an English thing. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. I prefer butter with thick slice or chunks that you get from home baked ham. It's good on the the sliced deli meat too, but thick sliced of baked ham...that's the way to go!

damn...now I gotta bake a ham this weekend!

If you eat 1 slice of the sandwich, you are eating 1 slice of bread.

Which is half a sandwich. Who divides sandwiches into slices anyway, it doesn't sound right.

You can have a slice of bread but you can't have a slice of sandwich.

In fact I disagree on principle with the idea of cutting up a sandwich, it becomes far too easy for filling to be lost, and then you have to scoop it up off the floor and put it back into the sandwich before eating the rest. Makes things much too complicated.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

While we're on the subject, why do sammiches always taste better when someone else makes them. I can use just the right amount of the best fixin's, and a bologna/miracle whip sandwich made by someone else will taste bette.
