You decide on a price.
You tell them the day, departing airport and arriving airport.
If the airline accepts, whoopee.
I have some family that use it sometimes with good success.
I dont know if you have a confirmed seat or not, but I havent heard any of them complain of being on stand by.

good luck.:)

I used priceline choose your own price when I went to Scotland after college. Round trip was like $400 or something, which at the times was a hell of a deal.

you takes your chances with what airline you will fly and your flight times, but you can usually start at a ridiculously low price and work your way up until someone accepts.

once you name the price though, if someone accepts you are stuck buying that ticket. So, you roll the dice.

Besides, I don't know how much cheaper flights are gonna get in that heavy travel time. They have already gone up $100 from when I bought mine a month ago.

Xmas is your cheapest bet outbound and Jan 3rd was when I found my cheapest return flight.

I used priceline once when I flew to San Diego from Atlanta. I put a price of what I wanted to pay, they sent me an email almost immediately and told me that the price was accepted. I was given an actual seat and used e-tickets. (This was also back in 2001), so things may have changed. I got the ticket about a month before depature.

I haven't used Priceline since then, not for any particular reason. I've been using Cheaptickets, which they just reemed me and I won't use them again after this trip to the holiday boogie.

anyone ever use the choose your own price option??

hows it work?

I've used priceline.com twice. Neither time did I get my "true" requested price, but within $50. They were decent deals, but if you're trying to plan I'd advise against it. Priceline is good if you're looking for a last minute (within 48 hours) flight.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

I used Priceline.Com several times a few years ago. The problem I had was that on one flight to Boston, I didn't get in until late and by then the car rental agency was closed and I had to take a cab several miles to the hotel. I think the fare was about $40.00. Then I had to go back to the airport the next day to pick up the rental car, another $40.00.

Departure time was 6am. I would have liked to slept a little longer and had breakfast, but thats the convenience you give up for a low fare. I usually either book online thru Orbitz, Travelocity etc. because the savings thru Priceline aren't great enough to offset the inconvenience, for me.
