Recommended Posts

Another thing I am starting to do is when I am bored at work durring an off shift I am going to put on my bunker gear and run up and down stairs... that should help me shed some extra pounds, as well as the snow shoverlling I am going to have to do this winter.

Jeesh has the art of bulimia and anorexia died? Why diet and work to look good when you can just barf

Because barfing is so damned attractive, that I would have to fight off women with a stick if I started doing that

My "normal" eating routine:
I'm not a fan of sugar, so desserts or chocolates have never been an issue for me, but if you like your nightly desserts, minimize those. Increase veggies and salads (but watch the type of dressing you choose..lemon juice or vinegrette vs the creamy dressings such as blue cheese/ranch). Increase water intake so much to the point where you think you're floating. Good lean protein such as chicken or turkey breast and steamed veggies and brown rice and you're good to go. Of course, combine that with exercise. If you're not a fan of the gym, then just park at the far end of the parking lot at the grocery store..walk walk walk!
I'm a sucker for chips/salsa so carbs are my weakness.

Strongly recommend "Body for Life" program. It's realistic to do and stay with.

Good luck!:)K

alright steven, I am no pro...but sis is a nurtritionist, and I try to eat well becaus I feel so much better.

first things first...eating once a day has to go immediately. let yourself get to hungry and set yourself to eat to much. plus your energy and emotional levels are gonna be all over the place.

diets don't work, or only for a short time. Make changes that you can live with for the immediate future; avoids things you START or STOP. moderation should be your guide.

weigh yourself ONCE a MONTH (NOT A TYPO) at the MOST. Whether you lose or gain, people start jumping on and off after every piss, dump, or meal. worse yet, their self worth is usually contingent on that number. NOT GOOD....

exercise, but make it something you enjoy, otherwise forget it.

ah, almost forgot. always eat breakfast, never (unless it's absolutely necessary) eat after 6:30pm.
the healthier you eat the better you will feel.

hmm when i was in the army, i was drafted in under the fat kids program. Lost abt 15 kg in 3.5 months.
We ran every morning for abt 2km, evening runs for 5km.
They kept us really active during the day too.
That's some crazy exercise and it'll kill ure interest if ure not forced to do it everyday. but it gives u an idea.
Diet wise, remove visible fat from ure food. Dont bother defatting the skin. just throw it all away. Grill ure food when possible. cut out all alcohol. dont bother with chocolates/syrups u know the usual deal.
As for weighing yourself.. i dont know abt once a month, but initially, I find it good to weigh myself once a week. Once ure BMI starts to get close to your ideal, weight loss will slow to a crawl and weekly weighs wont get u anywhere.
Discipline will keep u through it, most importantly it'll maintain it. find some friends who want to have a change in lifestyle. stick together as a group. its awesome.
Not to mention.. the decreased wing loading... hmmmm
When you come close to losing your life, you learn to value it.
I jumped, I survived, I learnt.
