andyturner 0 #1 June 15, 2008 Just spotted a rig that looks great for me, the only snag is its in the US! Does anyone know the score wrt Import taxs, Customs, Shipping etc etc thanks Andy
FrancoR 0 #2 June 15, 2008 Check with the french customs agency they can tell you how much customs you have to pay. For import in Germany you would have to pay a couple percent import duties and 19% "Einfuhrumsatzsteuer" basically VAT. Riggers are required to ask for proof that you pay for customs before they make the german gear check cards. Check UPS for shipping. Yes, it is expensive, but the dollar is also cheap. Or you can just sneak the rig across the border while you are on vacation in the US, but that would be illegal of course and for Germany you would need to find a rigger as your parnter in crime. FrankIf it does not cost anything you are the product.

BKR 0 #4 June 15, 2008 To France here is the way to calculate. Value of the good + shipping fee * 2.7% (customs duty) * 19.6% VAT= taxes to be paid.Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
Glandu 0 #5 June 16, 2008 Is the value of the good + shipping fee equal 2,000 euros, will the total taxes to be paid are 446 euros? If my calculation is wrong, forgive me, I lately drank too much Pastis!!

andyturner 0 #7 June 16, 2008 Quote Around this if caught by Customs. ??? So what do you have to lose Hi Jérôme, its me Andy the guy who came to visit your workshop with my wife, how are you? did you find me a used rig??? Question, in France you dont need an AAD for Voile Contact (CRW), but you do need one for a normal Skydive. What about if the 1st half of the jump is FF then second half is CRW???? best regards Andy

andyturner 0 #9 June 17, 2008 Haven't found nothing yet. - No worries. I've emailed info on a couple of rigs to you. I would value your opinion. CRW after a FF is forbiden I think - Even if you dump at 7000ft? We used to do this in the UK, its great because you get a bit of freefall & full CRW jump all for the price of one ticket I can't really see a problem providing we jump last. Being old salt you must have done some CRW in your time, do you want to jump??? best regards Andy
BKR 0 #10 June 17, 2008 Regulations are regulations and in France they are not easy to handle sometimes. Yes I did several but not any more. What the best a CRW jump or a beer in my swimming pool, so I go for the beer Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468

FrancoR 0 #12 June 18, 2008 QuoteAround this if caught by Customs. Not quite, that would be the amount you pay if you declare the item. If you get caught, you also pay a fine. A colleageu of mine had to pay a few hundred for smugeling a lens accros the border. FrankIf it does not cost anything you are the product.

Frank You are right, if you get caught in France, the fine is the entire amount you have normaly to pay multiplied by 2 if the value is over 150 euros. This can be a lot, in this case this will be around 920 euros.Jérôme Bunker Basik Air Concept www.basik.fr http://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Luc-France/BASIK-AIR-CONCEPT/172133350468
