Snowwhite 0 #1 October 8, 2005 ok folks, at the end of the World Free Fall Convention we always try to have a survey, so that we can monitor the experience you have had there. This way we can try to keep a pretty accurate reflection of what you are wanting us to produce from year to year. This years survey also asks questions from people who DIDN'T come, to see what they might like to have at the WFFC. If you would like your responses to be taken into consideration go to www.freefall.com, and fill out the survey. It's annonymous, but having your location really helps us know who we are and are NOT reaching. I've been having a great time reading the responses to date, and I'll tally them all up soon and let you all know what the overall feelings are. We already have some great changes in mind for next year, there have been several planning meetings, and it's coming together GREAT! Thanks! freeflir29 0 #2 October 8, 2005 I think you guys know what everyone wants. With the majority of DZ's having a turbine these days people want the "Specialty" aircraft. That's what makes WFFC special. Not that it's an easy thing to do.

NWFlyer 2 #5 October 8, 2005 I filled out the survey, but honestly, I'm not sure that I'm your target audience and therefore found the questions to be pretty limiting. There's a lot of reasons I chose not to go this year. It's right after Lost Prairie, which is a lot closer to me (can get there driving), and the weather is more appealing to me (I've become a west coast weather wimp... I can't handle humidity). As long as the convention stays in the midwest, and I stay west, those things aren't "fixable." It is what it is. But really, the very concept of WFFC doesn't appeal to me, at least not now. The very things that make it (or once made it) "special" are exactly what doesn't interest me. The sheer size of it, the selling of it as the biggest gathering in the world actually puts me off a bit. I much prefer a boogie in the 250-500 people range. Big enough that there's plenty of things to do and new people to meet, but small enough that I can find my friends and find a niche. I'm not at the point in my skydiving career where the idea of really huge jumps is a draw, and if I do get there, I wonder if I'll prefer something like a big-way camp instead. I'm not to the point where I want to demo a lot of gear - at any rate, the volume of vendors/availability of lots of demo gear is not enough of a draw. As for the social scene, again, it's not my style. I'm actually kind of turned off by the "biggest, baddest, craziest parties" idea. Again, I'd much rather be at a more moderate sized boogie where the social scene is still great but I don't feel like I'm in some massive club or back on fraternity row with 10 different huge, crowded parties. Again, that's just me. So for people like me, the very thing that makes WFFC unique is the very thing that makes me not want to go. Specialty aircraft might be the only thing that could draw me there, but I doubt it."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. brenthutch 444 #11 October 10, 2005 Then you would have loved it this year. No big parties in the party tent. Very small crowd but HUGE facility. The first year the convention went to Rantoul, I thought it could use about 1000-2000 more people just to make the place feel full. Of but that was back when they drew 3500 or so. Bring back the carnival, it provides a good venue to mix with the locals who seem to like us.
Thanatos340 1 #12 October 10, 2005 I Filled out the survey and posted these same comments after getting back this year.. 1. Prorated Registration Fee. People will not pay $70 registration fee if they can only make it for a Couple days. 2. Work something out with the Gear Manufacturers and Vendors. Many said they would not be returning due to increased Costs of Booth and much lower attendance. Having all the Gear Manufacturers and Vendors there is a Big Part why many people go. 3. Bring back the Official DVD. Not only would this be an additional Profit Center for the Convention, But the DVD also serves as advertising through out the year to get everyone hyped up for the convention. I believe that 2002 was the last Official DVD that out there. 4. Move the Main Bar back into the Main Tent. The new location sucks and draws people away from the Party Tent. You got that right....after jumping Skydive Arizona's skyvan three times in a row and everytime being put out downwind and away from the DZ I will never jump a SDA aircraft ever again. When I ran into larry hill later his attitude was tough shit. this was 2004. one time I landed out in the bean field, one time I downwinded it into a tight wire lined area, and then the last time landed inthe ball fields. all of these were west of the airport...and we all know how crappy that area is to land in. In 200 jumps I've been to five boogies and ten DZs... trust me, I'm not limiting myself, I'm having a lot of fun and not limiting myself, either socially or jump-wise. I'm just trying to say that thousands of people and massive parties isn't my scene. I've gotten into more than a few arguments with the Fayard loaders. On one, we had a low timer 4-way following an 8-way out. Based on the winds I gave them a total of about ten seconds; four seconds before we started to move, four seconds before we were in position, quick check out the door and a two second count. After I landed one of the women in the tent came up to me. "Hey, you hosed the rest of the load; you took like 30 seconds in the door." "I took ten seconds.
