2fat2fly 0 #1 October 27, 2005 I've got to get my knee worked on. Luckily it'll just be 'scoped-reattach some stuff and clean out some scar tissue. I'm trying to schedule it now. How long can I expect to be grounded? It seems like I should be able to jump again in a couple or three weeks-heck, most of the time I land on my butt anyway. Really, how long do you think I'll be down?I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
mailin 0 #2 October 27, 2005 I had surgery on my leg last year - it was very minor, just a big cut that was stitched up. I was down and out for 6 weeks. My mom had the same thing you had done last year - and she was not able to walk again without pain/crutches for 3 weeks - let alone be able to jump up and down on it. Take your time - its not worth it otherwise. JenArianna Frances

wmw999 2,593 #5 October 27, 2005 Find a doctor who understands what you do, and who doesn't automatically think you're an idiot. Then you can trust what he or she says, which is what you should do. 2fat2fly 0 #8 October 27, 2005 I believe meniscal degeneration was one of the terms used and that's stuff that they're taking out-torn ACL is what's being put back together. The good thing is that if I'm going to get cut anyway, I might as well learn to land my new Sabre 2-if I biff it (again) what does it really matter. eeneR 3 #9 October 27, 2005 There have been a few threads on ACL and such on here. My guess, if it is an ACL reconstruction I would say 4 months But it depends on exactly what they have to do. Quote I might as well learn to land my new Sabre 2-if I biff it (again) what does it really matter. It does matter, you risk doing further damage which could infact tear more shit, or make things much harder to fix. I had my ACL done, granted it was 12 years ago. Technology has gotten a lil bit better, but it still is a long as process. This would be between you and your doc. If you dont like his attitude then find another one, and specifically an orthopod. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

yardhippie 0 #11 October 27, 2005 Ive had two injuries that required scopes, and PT, and time off. i used a clinic that specialized in sports injuries/medicine. they were geared towards getting you back in shape, not just fixing the problem. I had two Dr. (one for each injury) and each was sincerely intrested in reparing my injury AND preventing a future injury. you might check into something like that?Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
2fat2fly 0 #12 October 27, 2005 Unfortunately, my doc had to call 3 surgeons before he found one that would take my shoddy insurance. This guy has worked on me before and we don't like each other He's professional, so he'll do his best on the work but we have a tough time being in the same room unless I'm knocked out.I am not the man. eeneR 3 #13 October 27, 2005 QuoteOn a tangent, I fuss when my customers call and asked the same question over and over trying to get the answer that they want to hear-and I'm doing the same thing Hey at least you are honest with yourself I had my knee done 12+ years ago. It was a biatch (though easier then my shoulder I had done this may) but it was worth it. My knee is much much much better, and it has been 12 years now, and I ski and everything else with little problems. Just do what the doc and PT people tell you. Also Yard...hit it right on the head. Go to a sports med specific doc and PT. Make it very clear the demands you put on yourself. If they get all up in arms...move on to someone else. My knee was done in Vail, CO as I was living in summit county at the time. Doc kicked ass...kicked my ass too. I thank him for that. I was in PT the very next morning....would have been that night, but got sick from the knock out drugs . Anyway, dont fuck around when it comes to docs and surgens on this stuff. I thank god I didnt....She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

rwieder 0 #16 October 28, 2005 I had cartalige repair, and my ACL had a graft removed from it to provide material for my cartilage. It was a 8 week physical rehab process, and about 6 months before i jumped again. I've already "biff tested" it. It's fixed better now!
