artistcalledian 0 #1 October 27, 2005 Ok chums.... what type of music are y'all into ? The last time i was in the States, back in 2003... a large group of us went on holiday to Vegas, we went out clubbing every night and i'm not joking... every god damn club played R&B and (c)rap music all night we even went up to the DJ and asked him to play some dance music, he said this is dance music... we said you're having a laugh mate, we want some house music... he looked at us as if we'd just said we were about to eat his kids we just sat watching people gyrate around as if they needed a shit, nobody was up on the podeums giving it the rave dancing Back in the early to mid nineties, me and all the lads used to go to the illegal raves, you'd sometimes get 15-20,000 people at them. you would have hard house music and hardcore pounding out till the sun came up. Best feeling in the world to be raving off your head why isn't house music big in the States? is it because of the whole image of letting yourself go? getting all sweaty and crazy? i know people over here who are into (c)rap and R&B like it because they can pose to it and try and look cool on the dance floor, same over your way? i went to a large legal rave at the end of July, why doesn't this sort of this go off that much in the states? http://www.globalgathering.co.uk/________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police

jjiimmyyt 0 #5 October 27, 2005 Ahh the old days Have to say when I've been over the pond in Tampa we found some pretty decent clubs. Maybe in Vegas its all a bit more plastic and commercial? artistcalledian 0 #6 October 27, 2005 QuoteMaybe in Vegas its all a bit more plastic and commercial? maybe it all seemed like pretty boys with their wallet pig girlfriends... all decked out in expensive clothes, yet none of them having any style It was like watching Miami Vice we tried talking to people (in that friendly raving way ) and they either looked at us like... doesn't he know who i think i am? or..... what does this person want ?________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police
SudsyFist 0 #7 October 27, 2005 Quotedude, i'm going to see carl cox tonight in tampa, FL. Arlo, dunno if you've ever seen or met him before, but not only is this guy serious talent on the decks, but he's got a vibe from out of this world: modest, genuine, and infectiously joyful. Na uihaeso ch'um-ul ch'uo juo.
arlo 0 #8 October 27, 2005 i have yet to see mr cox in a "club" setting (saw him at ultra this year), but i can tell you that a gang from zhills is pretty pumped up about seeing him tonight. i am sooooooo looking forward to his good energy!! i've seen interviews with him and the man seems so genuine and his love for music is unrivaled. what a gem! i don't know what's going on, but twice this week i get to see some serious geniuses at work. i saw trent reznor/NIN tuesday night and will see Mr. Cox tonight. sometimes it's just good to be me. did i say how excited i am to get to experience CARL COX?? i am ready to dance my ass off tonight!
 artistcalledian 0 #9 October 27, 2005 Carl Cox used to play the raves back in the early nineties... he'd often do them for nothing, just to help out promotors who were trying to get on their feet the man is a GOD, he has time to say hello to everybody. he once said in an interview "i give the people on the dance floor what they want, most of them have been at work 5 days a week, doing a job they hate...its my job to give them the tunes they want, not to play a set that is self-indulgent" repect to him for his attitude________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police
 ChrisL 2 #10 October 27, 2005 Quotewhy isn't house music big in the States?
