tigra 0 #2 October 26, 2005 I'm a Cub fan and that doesn't bother me a bit. Just shows they can be gracious! I know you're a little bitter about the Sox being Chicago's number 2 baseball team regardless of performance, but that's just the way it is!

Oh - Dusty Baker wasn't so gracious in the latest ESPN magazine. Asked who he would cheer for in the postseason and he said "Certainly not the White Sox." This coming after Oz has defended the guy against our nasty sports media all season long. Oz's reply last night? "Let's see who owns this town after this series." We may be the #2 team in this city, but I can't ever lose an argument to a Cubs fan again - I'll just point to my World Series hat and smile _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... tigra 0 #4 October 26, 2005 Don't be a hater! I've got my Jenks T-Shirt! The truth is, as excited as the city is right now for the Sox, if it were the Cubs, there would be sooooo much more happening! That's just how it is! For some reason, we love our Cubbies no matter what, but the Sox need to make it to the World Series just to get a little attention! Sure, its wrong, but that's the way it is! MrJones 0 #8 October 26, 2005 I hear that loads of Cubs fans north of Madison are jumping south for a ride on the wagon NUR ZUM SPASS
tigra 0 #9 October 26, 2005 Shhhh- don't tell Bo! Especially if they got tickets he couldn't get! Lots of people are riding the wagon for now, but how many will stay on for next season?
ChasingBlueSky 0 #10 October 26, 2005 Bud Light presents, real men of genius, Today, we salute you, Mr. Cub Fan-Bandwagon Jumper White Sox fan. As you drive like a nervous wreck down the Dan Ryan in the Mercedes that your parents bought for you, you wonder, "Will the South Side Faithful accept me and my sweater-vest and Heineken-drinking ways?" You arrive at the ballpark only to realize that "Hey, there's no Ronnie-Woo-Woo here, but only countless look-alikes selling shirts that say, "Cubs Suck", and "Cuck Da Fubs." But this doesn't offend you. Why? Because now you're a Sox fan, dammit, and to prove it you put on your newly purchased White Sox cap, only to be ridiculed by a real Sox fan, who says to his buddies, "Wow, look at that douchebag." So crack open an ice cold Bud Light oh Fairest of the Fairweather Fairies, because if it's the Blue Jays that make the playoffs next year, you might have to carry around a new pet bird like the little b*tch that you are... (yes, I AM enjoying this. Esp since those bastards did have my tickets! And it was a Cub fan that sent that to me)_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... tigra 0 #11 October 26, 2005 That's hilarious! Remind me to stop at the store and pick up some Heinekens for tonight's game! I got the shirt yesterday, but I just KNEW something was missing!
MrJones 0 #12 October 26, 2005 I am sure the girl they showed on National TV wearing a cubs jersey with a SOX hat will be back next year. You would'nt see that in NYC of even in LA NUR ZUM SPASS
RevJim 0 #13 October 27, 2005 Doesn't hurt at all. I'm above that immature babble. Being a life long Cubs fan, I can be happy for the Sox, but no, I'll never cheer them on. On second thought, I'm happy for Chicago, not the Sox. They still sell cellphones by third base there? It's your life, live it! I mean after all, the white sox are gonna win a world series. I saw an ad of some sort that had a baby with a Cubs hat on. It read, "Cubs fans aren't made. They're born." I never really believed that until yesterday. We were talking about the Sox and how it was cool that they'll win the World Series, and it would be really cool if they could sweep the Astros. My two-year old nephew then shouts, "NO! GO CUBS!" So, I do know of at least one Cubs fan that is bitter about the Sox. Personally, I think it's cool, but if they wouldn't have won, it wouldn't have changed my day any. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
skymedic 0 #15 October 27, 2005 Exactly how I feel. I was happy the Sox won...but in the end it doesn't alter my earth at all. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....
ChasingBlueSky 0 #16 October 27, 2005 Sox fans are born as well. It's like a piece of defective genetic code that is passed on to each generation on the South Side....just like anything else down here (Irish, Catholic, Democrat, etc ). Not only has it been years of suffering...it's been being the OTHER loser team in town. Growing up sitting in an empty Comiskey Park....bonding with those people that remember that buying bleacher seats meant you had front row Golden Box seats behind home plate.....never leaving until the game was finished because if you did there would be almost no one there to cheer your team on in case they rallied to win. That's where we learned to love the small ball because outside of guys like Bull and Kittle there wasn't much. We learned that Winnin Ugly was the way to go....and outside of that we only had Disco Demolition and the Shoeless Joe to get all dreamy about. Then we had to deal with poor TV/Radio reception broadcasts and the only coverage we got in the media was when something went wrong at the park. Loving the Sox became something more than just a friendly sports fan thing....it became part of you. Old Comiskey Park was our Home - as a die hard fan you had free run of the park, your family and friends worked there, you would recognize the other fans you saw there, you stayed thru those 6 hour rain delays, Andy the Clown knew who you were.....I've never seen so many people cry when the wrecking ball finally hit it. That's why the Sox fans were the first ones to complain about the new park.....and now 15 years later as the park has been reshaped into something more like home, it's nice to have it feel like home with a good strong small ball team again. But for the South Side it's more than just a victory or a world championship. It's about it finally being OUR time. The South Side is that other side of town that most tend to ignore. I still see it on a daily basis - telling professional people in my field that I choose to still live on the South Side and them acting as if I have the plague. It's retribution and justice for those of us that make this part of town our home. Many of you may roll your eyes at this, but if you didn't grow up as a South Side Sox fan.....you just won't understand. Is this Heaven? No, this is the South Side. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... With the exceptions of 1979 (Sonics) and 1991 (Huskies shared title), they've ALL always been one of the other loser teams in town.
