spidermonky 0 #1 October 24, 2005 Beer advocate has released a top 100 beers list: http://beeradvocate.com/top_beers.php and here are the beers we drink: http://beeradvocate.com/top_beers.php?id=worst I can't believe Natty light is considered better than Coors light! And why isn't PBR on the worst list!?

AggieDave 6 #4 October 24, 2005 I'm disappointed that Shiner Bock isn't on the good list (its not even on the bad list). Oh well, I like it and I don't care what some list says it is.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
TheAnvil 0 #5 October 24, 2005 I've had a lot of them...haven't had some of them either. Rather disappointed that Corsendonk was not on there - among others. Ayinger is somd DAMNED good beer. Weihenstephan as well. I disagree overall, but not having had all 100, can't be certain. Interested to hear mighty SKYDIVEXXL's opinion on this. lawrocket 3 #8 October 24, 2005 It's nice to see that there probably isn't a pilsner or lager on the list (with the exception of bocks). A beer site for beer fans. Interestingly, some of my favorite beers are not on the top of the list. Alaskan Smoked Porter, Oaked Bastard, and Trappistes Rochefort aren't at the top. Some of my favorites, like Chimay Cinq Cents Triple Trappist and Maudite aren;t in the top 100. But, boy, there about abotu 40 on that top 100 that I haven't tried. I need to get to work, I guess. Dave, we found some Shiner Bock at the local Ralph's last week & tried it out because you recommend it so highly. Not as malty as I usually like ( I love Bohemian Pilseners), but has a very nice dry taste to it. The wife especially liked that. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity ! popsjumper 2 #10 October 24, 2005 A thread about beer and Skinny hasn't posted? Somebody please go check his pulse. Not being a beer drinker, I found the article amazingly educational. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. SpeedRacer 1 #11 October 24, 2005 I tried Shiner Bock. I can get it here in Frederick Maryland at the store down the street, so I don't think it's so hard to find anymore. It was really good! Well-balanced bock I thought. I may try to clone it sometime. It doesn't have a really noticeable & exceptional flavor like some of the beers listed in the Top 100 list. But sometimes a nice smooth crisp bock lager is just what you need. It definitely goes better with Mexican food than some of those Top 100 beers. Here are the reviews for Shiner Bock: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/143/1352/ general consensus is that it is an OK easy-drinking light-bodied amber beer, but with nothing really too remarkable about it. Overall score was 3.11 Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
SpeedRacer 1 #12 October 28, 2005 I was just in Juneau Alaska in august. I toured the Alaskan brewing company. The smoked porter kicked ass. I tried to brew a smoked ported. The smoked malt I used was left over from some professional brewer. It was already ground so I'm afraid it might have lost some of its character. So I may just wind up with a plain ole porter. No prob, but still They had a bowl of smoked malt at the tour of the Alaskan brewing company, and it had a nice strong hickory smoke aroma to it. I ate some of the malt. I could really taste & smell the smokiness. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
