Cessna crash landed, took off then crashed again.

Recommended Posts

Ok so yesterday a pilot did not plan his fuel right, and came up 3 miles short of Baton Rouges Ryan airport. He landed fine in the middle of a 4 lane roadway. They fueled the plane up, and tried to put it on a wrecker to bring it back to the airport, but found out that the landing gear was too wide for the flat bed wrecker, and the fence he would have had to go through was not wide enough. So they waited until today to close down the roadway, and let him take off right where he was. They closed down the roadway, and let the pilot have control. He started his roll off, clipped a 18 wheeler that was parked on the side of the road, hit a firetruck that knocked part of his wing off, and sent the plane into the woods! I cannot believe how much a cluster fuck that whole situation is. The pilot was ok, and now there will be 15 thousand investigations as to what happened, and why there were 18wheelers, and firetrucks anywhere near the takeoff path of the plane:S

What a waste of an airplane. Isn't it the pilot's responsibility to ensure they have a clear runway before attempting takeoff?

Dumbass.

What a jackass. 3 miles sounds like he was clsoe, but the idea is to have a certain amount of reserve fuel left over when you land, anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes worth, depending on the pilot. If you're flying IFR, you're required to have a certain amount of reserve in case you get held up in traffic, weather or just lost in the coulds.

Yea, he will have his ass handed to him by the FAA. Should have happened prior to allowing the guy to take off from the highway, and his failure to insure the highway was cleared and that he could operate the aircraft in a safe manner.

IFR requirements require the PIC to plan enough fuel for the intended flight, fuel to the altenate airport if required and 45 min. remaining at normal cruise flight.

Should have his lic. revoked for 6 mths with additional training when placed back on flight status.

My .02 pennies.

why post someone else's personal information on this website?

even if you looked it up somewhere else on the internet, why would you post it here?

Now i know not to ever never fly with this clown. I'm glad it was posted. A look at the tail # gives all of this info up anyway. Not a big deal. I doubt anyone is going to send him any "clown" mail, everybody here has way better things to do with their time i'm sure.

One thing's sure though, he is now an official "Darwin Canidate":DB|;) What a schmoe. :S Nonetheless, he has my vote, and i'll cheat and vote for him twice!

No doubt the FAA will suspend his license and probably financially sanction him, not to mention the law suits for damaged property he is fixing to have to deal with. Now would be a good time to make him an offer on his plane!!

His name and contact info is in the news, and on the FAA site. It is not a hidden fact.

That's a scary notion. I'm glad the DMV is smarter than that.
