He was stuck higher up about 500 ft. In Derek's case it was a 180 off heading opening.

FYI..At the time Derek and I had been rockclimbing 4 days a week so he was in the physical condition to climb up the cable and he had 3 good friends with him who had rock climbing experience which is why the end to his story is very different from Johns. Ok, well all of that and the fact that his guardian angel although chain smoking and drinking decided to help out one more time before she jumped off a bridge.
