TEB6363 0 #1 April 24, 2003 Besides skydiving, I also fly model radio control aircraft for a hobby. There has been very good advances in small-scale size turbin engines in the last couple years, which is great for modle airplane flying. Now, put that technology in the hands of some people and you get....... A Jet powered bike!! Here is the link to the video: http://www.avpics.de/mov/civ/metpic.mpg I don't know how fast the guy is going, but it sure sounds cool. However, I wouldn't want to be the one sitting on the bike in front of the engines. Once the plane takes off, you're gonna have to land - Might as well jump out!! Guest #5 April 24, 2003 OMg - that is just too much fun! I sure miss Radical & Extreme Hobbies. They showcased all kinds of insanely overpowered toys, like a Nitrous Oxide-boosted scooter, rocket-powered go-kart, etc. The most spectacular stuff on REH was Seattle's own Wally Glenn, alias Pyro Boy. Saw a live show one night during Seattle's Fringe Festival. He dances around with industrial fireworks strapped to his body! "The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." That's too funny for words! Seriously, there is that rigid wing that's under development. In this month's issue of Skydiving, there was a little news bit about an attempt to fly across the English Channel with one of the rigid wings. Can engines be far behind? Flight of the Valkyries, anyone??!! HA! BTW - anybody ever seen "Johnny Jetpack"?"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." Cajones 0 #10 April 24, 2003 Quotewill enable enough forward speed for landing. Hmm... Where do you position the landing gear? I wouldn't want to be dragging anthing on the roll-out. Especially anything made of flesh - that might be attached near my hips - and might protrude from the excitement had by this experience. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
