Coyotes in west Houston

Recommended Posts

Here's a weird reason for not being able to sleep. I saw three coyotes about 50 ft. away from my apartment tonight. Now I can't sleep because I keep thinking about the threat they represent to people's pets and the local population of wildlife.

Beatiful animals, but it looked kind of like they were after something and caught it. No growling, barking, or anything like that. The only noise was from them running through the dead leaves on the ground. Other than that, they were quiet and VERY fast and looked like pirhana swarming.

I feed the local raccoons every night and they haven't shown up, which is strange because raccoons do not like to miss an easy meal. I think they must be VERY spooked to not come down from their trees.

We have coyotes in the open space right behind my complex, it's about 8-9 miles to the mountains but because the open space is created in order to have a nature corridor from the mountains it is a perfect area for them trot on down and get the local wildlife (geese, beavers, rabbits). Everyone knows not to walk their dogs in the open space at night. You can hear them yipping and howling all the time.
Fly it like you stole it!

Careful - You'll scare Boinky - Coyotes are much bigger than dime sized scorpions.:)
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

They're a hell of a lot bigger. The look kind of like small-to-medium-sized german shepherds, only more light brown and greyish. Beautiful animals, but from what I saw last night, I think even a small pack like the three I saw could bring even a very large man down without trying all that hard. A small animal would not have any chance of survival.

Scorpions seem relatively benign by comparison--at least to me.

Ok...so now that I personally caught one of the "dime-sized" scorpions in a bottle, will you back off and quit calling me a chicken now? >:(

Here folks...YOU figure out what to do when you find one of these on your door frame....see attached.

That's actually a decent-sized scorpion! As to what to do with it, here are two chocolate-covered scorpion recipes.
