Elisha 1 #1 November 2, 2005 My car got broken into while I was at work yestereday evening (I usually take a bus from the Park N' Ride). The front passenger window was smashed, the stereo and a bunch of CDs stolen. SUX!! Then I realized this morning that I couldn't find my backpack...which has my jumpsuit, Alti-2, helmet, goggles and logbook among other things. Every time I think I about those (skydiving) things I get depressed.
SudsyFist 0 #2 November 2, 2005 Dude, that soooooooooo totally sucks. Know, however, that things could've gone much more awry, and that you can be glad for what you still have. After all, what it all boils down to is just stuff. Stuff. Stuff is replaceable.

woodpecker 0 #4 November 2, 2005 Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. However, it was my other rig sitting in the backseat (they probably thought it was a backpack), cd's stereo, broken window. Thank god for insurance. Little bastards. Sorry to hear it happened to someone else.SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? Guest 1010 #5 November 2, 2005 that sucks dude, but you'll get over it. I did, wasn't skydiving stuff but three years ago they shattered windows, trashed the dash, stole my head unit, triple 10 JL-audio sub box, rockford fosgate amp, CDs etc not more than a week after I had finally got it done. It's just stuff, don't let it get you too down, really. You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.
bob.dino 1 #6 November 2, 2005 The loss of the logbook sucks .
gemini 0 #7 November 2, 2005 Get your DZO (or the DZO's at the DZs you have jumped) to print out your jump account. It should list all your jumps by date (and some will show altitude in general categories like 3.5, 10.5, 13.5). I had to reconstruct some of my jumps that way. It is a pain, but better than being logless when you show up at a new dz. Blue skies, Jim

skybytch 273 #9 November 2, 2005 Time to go for a walk around work and go dumpster diving. Really. When this happened to me I found everything except my helmet, altimeter and the pictures from my topless jump in a dumpster 15 blocks from where the car was parked. Worth a try. Those pictures sure would cheer me up. Thanks to insurance I'll be getting a new rig in a few. Guess it could have been worse. OOOhhh, and right before the x-mas sales.SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? Elisha 1 #12 November 2, 2005 QuoteThe loss of the logbook sucks . Yup, since it is an album/scrapbook of sorts besides just a log. I've been keeping track recently in an Excel spreadsheet, so all is not lost record-wise besides sigs and some comments.
thegreekone 0 #13 November 2, 2005 Quotewow i'm never leaving my jumping gear in my car!!! I hope you have that luxury. That said, sounds like famous last words. Good luck and keep us posted. For whatever it's worth, my street has been void of crime for a while, last week ppl broke into a neighbor's (last house on street, we live in middle) stole keys and purse from kitchen, then the car. Sucky thing was couple is getting ready to move. ALL cash, insurance papers, deed, etc....you guessed it, in purse. How's that for LUCK?

I've been keeping track recently in an Excel spreadsheet, so all is not lost record-wise besides sigs and some comments. I lost my 2nd logbook in a car burglary/theft 8 years ago along with most of my skydiving gear. I was able to remember how many jumps I had at the end of that day so I could start a new logbook, but that incident did cause me to start an Excel spreadsheet too. I have some 5 pages on there with all kinds of statistics up the wahoo... jumps at each DZ, jumps each month, each year, jumps on what gear, milestone and achievements and record jumps... etc... It sucked to lose my stuff and never see them again though, but at least I have a hard copy of my skydiving history on disk and in the computer."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
