BillyVance 35 #1 November 3, 2005 I don't know if any of you have seen this TV program called "7 Days". It's on Spike TV weekly at 9 AM Central Time for an hour. Being unemployed, I've gotten a chance to re-acquaint myself with daytime TV to a point. Really, the Three Stooges happy hour was what really drew me to the TV at 8 AM every morning. 7 Days comes on after the Stooges. In a way, the show is a bit like Quantum Leap, but more on a world scale. Apparently the US government has a secret program that not even the US President knows about, called Back-Step. They have this time-travel sphere that can go back a few days and they only use it when they need to reverse or prevent world-changing events from happening. Last week it was a mining company using bombs underground to blast some minerals out in California, but it triggers the earthquake that destroys the state... This morning's episode was about Pope Sylvester V getting assassinated by an Islamic radical before he could convene a joint Islam-Christian summit or something. So.... Back-Step sends their jock pilot in the sphere to go prevent that from happening. However, a glitch in the process somehow causes the jock's body to intersect with the 75 year old pontiff's body, so the jock finds himself as the pope! The resulting weird flashing lights distracts the assassin enough that he can't get off a shot and is subdued and sent to prison. Well, the jock as pope wants to meet the would-be assassin in prison. The pope naturally isn't himself because now he swears 'son of a bitch', etc and has the attitude of an uppity jock top gun pilot. So, the pope asks the gunman why he tried to kill him. Gunman says because the devil told him to, and then spits a wad in the pope's face. On impulse, the pope punches him in the face, which makes the gunman lunge over the table to strangle the pope, who then slams the gunman's face into the table before guards can take him away, and then the pope looks through the glass with this deranged look. Everybody else sees a 75 year old pontiff going postal. I bust out laughing my ass off for 15 minutes! It was a funny show... a pope getting ornery and uppity...
