My friend and I were having this discussion about wheather its ok to use the "L" word for the first time during sex. Would you say it during sex or is the first time supposed to be at a moment of tenderness? I think during sex might be misconstrewed as "the heat of the moment", she thinks it is ok to say it then as long as you mean it. Thoughts on the subject...

The "L" word for the first time during sex? Yeah...right...like it's really meant. If you want it to be believed, say it when sex isn't in process/progress/etc.

Ideally, I would want a man to tell me that he loved me when we just finished a day long strenuous hike, where my hair is pulled back, I'm sweaty and smelly, I have a blister on my foot the size of a quater, and my stomach is growling so loudly that it would scare a wolf. Then, I would know he truly meant it.

The word "love" is thrown around so much now that when it is said to me I take it with a grain of salt. Actions speak louder than words.

Agreed. If a man can say it at that time when you look/smell/feel your worst, you know he means it.

Said for the first time during sex.....insincere. Or an accident.

If you want the other person to believe you, the moment the "L" word is used for the first time should be without any strings, not tied to sex or anything else...you just say it because you feel it and you want the other person to hear it from you. You do not even expect to hear it in return.

Believe it or not, I agree. The one of nicest I love yous I ever got was while I was shaving and my gf was in the tub, totally spontaneous and I could tell she really meant it.

I think you should say it when you mean it...whenever that happens to be.

But much like others, I think that actions tell the tale.

Totally agree. There are no rules for when you can/should say it the first time. If more people would just chill out and enjoy life instead of trying to "play by the rules" i think more people would be happy.
