FlankSteak 0 #1 November 6, 2005 OK, today was a little cold and wet, but the yard work had to be done. I didn't have the typical workers gloves I usually use, so I went to my gear bag to grab my skydiving gloves - a little used, but good gloves. i put them on and walked down to rake up the leaves. But before I got down to raking the leaves, I scratched my nose with the back of my hand (with the gloves on) and got that smell. You know the smell...the smell of skydiving gear. The smell of your parachute. It's not quite the smell of jet fuel, but it's the next closest thing packed away in my room. Well, I couldn't use the gloves. They were my skydiving gloves and they have that smell. I turned around, went back to my gear bag and put the gloves away, then proceeded to rake leaves to pack 10 full garbage bags - without gloves. Damn I love skydiving.______________________________________________ "...whatever stands against freedom must be set aside, be it ritual or superstition or limitation in any form." christelsabine 1 #3 November 6, 2005 I never ever would use my wonderful skydiving gloves for anything else! OK, they might look a bit shabby... but: They are made to protect my hands in the air, not on the ground for dirty works! BillyVance 35 #8 November 7, 2005 I have not used my skydiving gloves for anything but skydiving. However, my old Factory Diver helmet, sans face shield, has doubled perfectly as a head warmer and protector on the ski slopes, and the face opening is perfectly sized to fit a pair of ski goggles within. Call me a sissy for using a helmet on the slopes, but it keeps me comfortable and prevents any loss of body heat through the head. I love it... bertusgeert 1 #9 November 7, 2005 Fortunately for my parents, but unfortunately for me, I decided to pay them a visit yesterday. My brother was gone, and they got me to clean up the leaves. just shy of 50 bags - without gloves. I'm sore --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
