kelel01 1 #1 November 6, 2005 You know . . . "more dry", "less dry", etc. How about just DRY? Believe it or not, I seldom want to wear my clothes slightly damp. Who's the fucking marketing genius who came up with that?

kelel01 1 #3 November 6, 2005 This particular dryer doesn't have a regular timed option, which is why I find the "more dry, less dry" crap so annoying.

Rebecca 0 #5 November 6, 2005 I have those lovely features on my dryer - seems they were attractive at one point, now I don't get it either. I think it's so you can keep from over-drying things? Whatever, I just hit normal, regular, more dry, go. edit: ...after I hang the delicate shrinkables to drip-dry that is... kelel01 1 #6 November 6, 2005 Well, if I ever meet the person who had this idea and somehow convinced hundreds of his contemporaries that this was a good idea, I'll slap him . . . just once, but hard. ccowden 0 #9 November 6, 2005 It is actually setting that makes sense if you know what they mean by it. I agree that it osunds stupid, but fabrics hold moisture long after they are dry to the touch. By leaving your clothes in for a longer period under heat, the fabric is dried beyond just being dry to the touch. It is like a "permanent press" setting. Yes, I know that these new dryers also sometimes have "permanent press" AND the "more dry" settings, but the idea is to allow the user more control with temperatures AND duration. Granted, for the average home user, this is still much more than one needs and really just alot of fluff to sell dryers, but there is a method to the madness. At the very least, maybe it will help you to not be so upset with the settings on your dryer.

kelel01 1 #11 November 6, 2005 Well, if I put it on "more dry" and everything didn't come out still damp, it would make more sense. But to me "more dry" means damp . . . just not as damp as "less dry". Dry means dry. Period.

NWFlyer 2 #15 November 6, 2005 QuoteI seldom want to wear my clothes slightly damp Sigh. My best friend from college used to find the "less dry" idea pretty amusing as well. He left this world almost 3 years ago, but I still think of him and smile when I'm doing my laundry. Funny the things that bring back fond memories of those we've lost. Oops, didn't mean to turn your thread into a downer. I, too, find most dryers to be a little overengineered. On/off and heat settings are pretty much all I need to make me happy."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. It's nice to see that your biggest problem is now in the dryer area. That is my goal... one day... to sit and say, "My dryer has too many settings..." How do you do it? It's like Scientology level-8 or something. "Yes.. she's reached the Dryer level... yeah, she is Tom Cruises guru... I know... 3 settings"

chaoskitty 0 #21 November 7, 2005 I use the "less dry" function for fabrics that dry faster than cottons. I dont want to dry my thong panties as long as my towels. Using the dryer is hard on all of your clothes anyway.
kelel01 1 #22 November 7, 2005 I still don't see its virtue. If it had a timer, you could set it for 10 minutes rather than 60. And FYI, for the humorless among us, this thread was a joke, based on the fact that I think the setting options are stupid. I'm not really hung up on this. Think Lewis Black. But to me "more dry" means damp . . . just not as damp as "less dry". Dry means dry. Period. You just gotta figure out how long it takes to dry your clothes. You start out with 30 minutes. If that doesn't do it, add another 10 minutes and so on... so quit yer bitchin' and dry your damn clothes... By the way, I put my blue jeans and towels in the dryer at the highest heat setting. Everything else is perm press or delicate or hang dry, depending on what is being dried... Daizey 0 #25 November 7, 2005 Have you checked out the other dryer in the other apartment yet to see if it has a timer? Dont get too used to that particular one-you are gonna have to learn the settings on the other one here soon (unless you decide to leave us)...I think Eric said it has even more setting than the current one *daizey*
