My MOM's first Jump

Recommended Posts

I finally talked my mom into doing a jump. All of her friends were trying to talk her out of it, and saying that it was dangerous, and that she shouldn't do it. She did anyway! (GO MOM!)
My girlfriend and I talked it out with her, and showed her video and everything. When she finally got on the plane she was terrified you could see it in her face, but her greatest fear was for the woman that she had met while training for her tandem. It was a great experience. The best part was that I got to be on the plane with her and when we landed all of my friends at the DZ were out in the landing area with cameras and clapping and yelling for her. It was a great feeling and made me realize that skydivers truly are a family.
My mom told my girlfriend that she had felt the support of people before, but it was never anything like that, meaning coming in for a landing and having all those people there cheering for her. I just want to thank the people out at SDA, thanks to Manifest for getting my mom up and down in a quick fashion, thanks to the two guys that got off the load so that My girlfriend and i could get on, and thanks to all the people that made it so special
We truly are lucky people to have a community like we do.

BLUE SKIES...psst...my mom has been skidiving!!!!!B|B|B|B|B|

wow, i would love my mum to do i skydive, but it'll never happen. My grandma is toying with the idea of doing it for her 70th in a couple of years. (or she's just humouring me ?) A couple of days before my 1st jump she said she couldn't believe i was going to do it- so i said there's no reason YOU can't. At first she just goes "NO WAY!" but after a few seconds says "hmmm...maybe i could for my 70th!!!"

ps - just realised- CAN you jump at 70??? is it just an absolute age thing or is it fitness?..hmmm now i really go to know!

really jealous your mum jumped- My mum seemed scared of tunneltime when i described it to her!

Hey congrats!

Your mom must love you lots to have gone through with it even thought she was so scared.
My mom did it this year as well, after 7 years of nagging.
She was 62.

BTW, we have jumped a gran who was 80 and then another gran saw that on TV and she was 90 and came to jump.
As a precaution, our TM puts a neck brace on them.

Sounds like a blast! My mom says she'll do a jump when she's "old enough to make the news." At 67, she doesn't think she's newsworthy yet.
