2fat2fly 0 #1 April 13, 2005 Went to HD and ordered a new mower, a 10X16 building and a washer and dryer to be delivered today (that was the only day that they could commit to. Drove 17 hours last night to get home for the delivery. The building chick called today and said that they couldn't start until June 6th. I've already destroyed my old buildning to make room. The guy that I gave our old washer and dryer to came by to pick up at 5:30. I called HD to confirm that my new stuff was on the way. She said yes, no problem. Good because I have to do laundry before I leave in the morning, As of 7pm, no deliveries-called HD and they said that the guys came by at 3 and I wasn't here. My phone log says that I was in the front yard at 3:02 telling Liz what came in the mail. I had been home for over an hour and I never left after that. 8 pm the manager (after several calls from me and the wife) said that he's bring a washer/dryer set and the delivery guys could swap out for my stuff tomorrow and I could do my clothes. 9:15 the manager and sales guy show up with some appliances. 10 pm, they figure out that they forgot to bring a pigtail and mgr, goes home, sales guy goes back to the store to get the plug 11:25, after installing the pigtail, sales guy figures out that he has the wrong style plug and here at 12 am, he's gone to get the right one, I still don't have clean clothes and I need to leave by 5 am to get back to Sun-N-Fun. Did I mentioned that they called me last night to tell me that they didn't have the washer that I ordered and confirmed stock on last week and I needed to but the next step up for an additional $200-I didn't pay the extra but just more aggrevation. Liz is under strict orders to sue the crap out of them if I fall asleep at the wheel tomorrow. I am Pissed And I still don't have a freakin mower Update 12:34 am and I'm washing clothes now-I should be done in time to take a 1 1/2 hour nap before I leaveI am not the man. PsychoBob 0 #2 April 13, 2005 Home Depot sux! After hurricane Ivan they dicked around with me trying to get my roof replaced. The morons they have coordinating their installs are pathetic. I will never use Home Depot for any install job or any delivery or item that requires me to count on them to be on time or done right. Call the store and ask for the "Ben Hill" number in Atlanta. Then start raising helll and make them take 25 % of of the price of the job. Don't settle for the dumb ass QA person demand to speak to a regional rep. Then never buy anything from them again."I'm not a gynecologist but I will take a look at it" RB #1295, Smokey Sister #1, HellFish #658, Dirty Sanchez #194, Muff Brothers #3834, POPS #9614, Orfun Foster-Parent?" masterrig 1 #5 November 10, 2005 I'm surprised, you got helped in the first place! I've gone into their store (here) and would need a little help from an 'associate'. I'd look all-over the damned place... finally, I'd find someone. I'd ask for help and I'd get; "Uh... that's not like, my department... the guy that works here is on break!" I left and went to Lowe's!!! Chuck

2fat2fly 0 #7 November 10, 2005 Yeah, they screwed me back in April but I was on the phone with Phree last night and they seriously hosed him and he's trying to get in to his new house which is stressfull enough without HD's lack of concern for the customer.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
masterrig 1 #8 November 10, 2005 Also, at the HD here, they will bend-over-backwards to help load a man's pick-up but will walk away if a woman has a large, heavy order. Chuck

flyangel2 2 #10 November 10, 2005 I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Great customer service at the HD here. Could lack of customer service have to do with the management team at the different locations?May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. 2fat2fly 0 #11 November 10, 2005 Ding. Ding-winner. I used to love HD and would drive past other stores to get there but I was slammed at a newer store. Maybe if I went back to the old one...I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

I still prefer going to this type now. The prices might be higher(not always), but you will most likely get great personal service, the shelves are maintained/stocked, and they will recognize you as a regular customer. Plus, it keeps the profits local instead of going to some corporate bigbox out of state. I'm a tool geek. If I need to kill time, I will go into a hardware store and just look around. The mom and pops are more fun and tend to have the more unique gadgets. Like I said, I'm a tool geek.50 donations so far. Give it a try. It was to be in Monday, Tuesday I visit them, "It should be on tommorrow nights truck". Wednesday get a call... it did'nt make the truck so soonest it might be in is the 17th after an original delivery date of the 7th. Asked for at least free delivery for my trouble and was laughed at and told to read the fine print of the contract. "Delivery time is estimated and not a binding date" basically. If I could get by with out the door I'd cancel the order but at this point I would'nt get a door from Lowes till mid December/Xmas. In their defence, they dont make the doors, and with all the construction and releif efforts in LA, its no surprise they have delays. What pissed me off most was their lack of initiation of communication: we had to call them to find out WTF was going on after missing deadlines.Remster
 cloudseeker2001 0 #18 November 11, 2005 This is kinda funny for me......My brother is a big shoot at HD! Here in Seattle, Lowe's took over a local chain (Eagle Hardware) known for great service, and pretty much destroyed that. It may have changed in three years, but I was pretty unhappy with Lowe's back then.
