HS Reunions???

Recommended Posts

I went to my 15th and 25th college reunions. I agree with the "later is better." I also had a blast at my 25th college reunion (heck, I even went to the next years :D) -- by then, you are who you are, and people who are still comparing are in the minority.

I went to my (blank) year reunion and had a great time. It's fun to see how people have changed. I've even kept in contact with a few of the people, and see them when ever I'm out in Calf.

I skipped my 10 year reunion--most of the people who went were acquaintances, not friends. I suppose I would've considered going if Chad Pennington (QB for the NY Jets, for those of you who don't know) was going to be there. I still remember him as the scrawny kid in my AP English class, and one of my best friends had the biggest crush on him. It's so funny to see other people fawning and drooling all over him now. :D

I wasn't close to that many people in HS - more acquaintances, didn't really enjoy it that much even though I was in sports (wrestling for 4 years), but the reunion/HS is in the same town where my parents live and it is only a few hundred miles away. Furthermore, all this attitude BS was years ago, when we were all stuck up teenagers anyways. I like to think better of people.

After/during the reunion, I'd have to say I was pleasantly surprised attitude-wise. I think most people who go want to find out how people are doing - not just try to impress people. I plan to go to my next reunion (maybe a 15 yr) when it comes up in a couple of years.

I'd kinda like to go to one of mine for curiousity's sake. At my five year I was still living in the area, and even paid for the reunion, but I got a last-minute weekend invitation that was a lot more appealing, so I did that.

For my 10 year I was living all the way across the country and not working, so I didn't have the means to go. I did get the "reunion book" that they published (and I contributed my info to that) and I was kind of surprised not to remember a lot of the folks in it (my grad class was only 350 or so). So I'm not sure how many of my friends/acquaintances came back for it and how much of a "reunion" it would have been.

I didn't "hate" high school, but it wasn't my "glory days" either. I had a lot more fun at my MBA five-year reunion than I probably would have at a high school one.

Number 20's coming up in 2008... I might have to go to that; maybe I can time it with a visit to my folks and/or Skydive Orange.:D

Screw it, never been to one but was considering it after 25 years.

So what turned me off was this chick I knew back in HS who I suddenly started talking to. She asked me to call her on Sat two weeks ago, told me something about how I should come to San Antonio (a 2000 mi drive) and spend the holidays with her.

Sounded like a plan, but ofcourse Im kind of suspicious not seeing someone after 25 years, but she sounded pretty nice. So, I call her back tonight to see if she still wanted to do that, she gets pissed off for some reason and tells me to stop calling her all the time (I called her two times in two weeks after 25 years). She was unbelievably rude on the phone.

WTF???:S I had talked to a few others I went to HS with when she had her Halloween party and they kept it pretty brief, didnt seem to want to say much.

I think Im backing away from any HS reunion stuff, doesnt sound like a good idea. Yea, I knew them back in HS, think Ill just leave it at that.

Anyone had bad experiences with HS reunions?

Maybe, it's just me but, I believe, you can never go back. I can't see, subjecting myself to seeing a bunch of folks noticing how so and so has 'really gotten fat!' or how bald the prom king is or trips down memory lane. I've spent all these years trying to forget half of my time in high school.:D

LOL:D:D:D

You know, I just saw a posted picture of this chick I was talking about...definitely NOT my type! Hardly even recognized her. Funny how your mind plays tricks on you sometime, while I was talking to her I was thinking about her in HS, totally different from now...I didnt have any idea of who I was talking to.

I go along with the others, HS reunions are a joke, waste of time and money. HS was boring, defitely not the high point of my life, and I couldnt wait to get out of it and start living.

I spent 25 yrs forgetting about it, think Ill keep doing that now.B|

My 20th reunion is next summer, 'course its only a 90 mile drive away. It will be a bit strange bringing a 2 month old baby along when some of my classmates have teenagers already! Hell, at the first reunion 9 years ago, one classmate already had 4 kids!

That nothin'!

My cousin that I sat next to for 4 years in HS has GRANDKIDS the same age as my kids!

I went to my 30th this year, an excuse to see go back and see my folks...

I left the re-onion after a little more than an hour...

Got tired of answering "Ya still jumping?" every 2 minutes!;)
