NWFlyer 2 #1 November 10, 2005 Was looking at my Continental frequent flyer account (for which I only have a couple thousand miles and will likely never fly again since they barely serve Seattle). So I thought "I'll get magazines!" Sure, there's the usual suspects like Time, or ESPN Magazine, or Entertainment Weekly, or even The Economist (alas, I don't have enough miles for that). But then there were these... which one should I get? QuoteBassmaster Bassmaster 11 Issues Newsstand Price: $59.40 Mileage Price: 500 OnePass Miles Description: Tips from the pros, equipment reviews and techniques for successful bass fishing. Good to know, should I ever take up a new hobby. QuoteCookie Cookie 6 Issues Newsstand Price: $21.00 Mileage Price: 500 OnePass Miles Description: Cookie is the Lifestyle Magazine for Sophisticated Parents. Each issue will help make it easier for busy but choosy parents to target the best new choices in everything from children's fashions to furnishings, toys to travel and books to birthday parties. Plus, Cookie provides the latest news, information and inspiration to lead richer, fuller lives as parents. So, in other words, how to best display your trophy child? QuoteMIRA! MIRA! 26 Issues Newsstand Price: $46.54 Mileage Price: 1,000 OnePass Miles Description: Mira features the latest celebrity news and exclusive interviews in the world of Latino. Where is this world of which they speak? Is it near Earth? QuoteRev. Magazine Rev. Magazine 6 Issues Newsstand Price: $35.70 Mileage Price: 500 OnePass Miles Description: Rev. Magazine is the only magazine written just for pastors. Practical articles that will help pastors navigate today's changing culture, personal encouragement to help pastors thrive in the face of everyday ministry challenges, an trend analysis which provides insights into what adjustments pastors might make to be more effective ministers. Now that's a niche market. QuoteThe Week The Week 50 Issues Newsstand Price: $144.00 Mileage Price: 700 OnePass Miles Description: THE WEEK will give you everything you need to know about everything that matters. Best reporting, analysis, commentary and opinion from scores of newspapers, magazines and other news sources. Excellent, then, so you're saying I never have to read anything else ever again? "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
ReBirth 0 #2 November 10, 2005 The Week is awesome. We get it at work. It gives a good synopsis of what all the different news sources are saying about current events and tries to include views from all over the political spectrum. You don't get indepth coverage, but you get a good cross section of differing views of the same events.

faulknerwn 38 #6 November 10, 2005 I love the Week but the subscription seems to be iffy. I'll get it for a month, and then none for 3. Then I'll get a few more issues and none.. Is your subscription more reliable? I love the magazine but they seem to be flaky! W

As for weird magazines, there's one called "Dental Floss" that is based in Birmingham, AL started by 2 guys... Okay, that just reminded me of a thing my dental office has. They've got pictures in the office and on their web site of their patients flossing all around the world... places from the summit of Mt. Rainier to the Taj Mahal. Cracks me up. Hmmm... maybe I should floss in freefall!
