riddler 0 #1 November 12, 2005 Reading Chuck Palahniuk's novel "Choke". He talks about if a hotel plays the Blue Danube Waltz over the lobby speakers, that's a cue that there's an evacuation emergency, and the employees are to get out. Anyone here work in a hotel, and can confirm/deny this? Usually Palahnuik speaks in shades of truth, and sometimes he just makes things up. Just wondering if this is fact or fiction. Couldn't find anything on snopes.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

ryoder 1,590 #4 November 12, 2005 I worked at a Holiday Inn, and never heard of it. Hospitals have "codes", e.g. "Code Blue", "Code Yellow", etc, which can be announced over the PA without alarming patients/visitors. Funny thing is that at the time I worked in a hospital, ('80's), these codes could be different from one hospital to another."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
