Ok, I've tempted fate long enough!
I need to purchase healthcare. Blue cross? Kaiser?
I'm looking for healthcare for myself only, I'm a 26yr old male.
what kind of insurance do you carry?

Start by going to www.ehealthinsurance.com. You can get quotes and compare plans and it's a great place to get yourself educated on the differences between types of plans.

Bottom line is thinking about what you need ... do you want comprehensive coverage for doctors visits and prescriptions or do you just want something to cover you in the event of a major injury or illness, then pay everything else out of pocket. Or something in between?

Also think about availability/convenience of provider. I know that in the North Bay, Kaiser is the best. I think they have a decent facility somewhere near The Haight.

Btw...we have about the same jump numbers...have I met you at Byron yet? I should be there this Sunday to pick up my rig from a repack & stuff.

Jamie,

Blue Cross has a health insurance geared toward young extreme sports enthusiasts. It's about USD 75 a month. It's pretty much catestrophic insurance. So a visit for the sniffles will cost you, but broken bones are cheap.

I have Kaiser thru my husband's work and have been very pleased with it so far. We have had several very expensive, lengthy hospital situations with the kids and I am currently undergoing a procedure that will require a total of 26 operations at about $2500-2900 each one and I have only had to pay a total of $10.00 and I have had 20 of the 26 procedures done so far and the $10.00 was for my co-pay at the doctor's office before my first operation.

I had Blue Cross many years ago and my son was in the hospital for 2 weeks and it ended up costing me $15,000 copay.

So my choice would be Kaiser.

You can PM me if you want more details, but I didn't want to fill the post with to much blathering.
