unformed 0 #1 November 13, 2005 Some of my friends are pilots we were talking about whether pilots lose their license if they lose an eye, and one of 'em clarified things: This is the FAAs stance and regulation on it: A pilot is allowed to fly with one eye, only if, and get this: The other pilot has both eyes. This ad space for sale. ltdiver 3 #2 November 13, 2005 When obtaining my Class III medical I had to get a written declaration from the doctor stating that what I was using the clearance for was -not- flying a plane but skydiving. Class III medical is needed to go in the altitude chamber....which is required to do HALO jumps. They granted the medical clearance with this letter, but not before it. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
akjmpplt 0 #3 November 13, 2005 It is possible to maintain a medical with vision in only one eye. The pilot will have to get a Statement of Demonstrated Ability..he'll have to go fly with an FAA examiner and demonstrate that he can in fact fly the airplane with only one eye. There are airline captains that only have one eye.SmugMug

I wonder if there's something going on here?)... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
