fireflytx 0 #4 November 11, 2005 I just paid off my credit card of having credit card debt for 10 years. I don't use it really anymore and if I do I just pay it at the end of the month. livendive 8 #5 November 11, 2005 I've got a little bit, about one week's pay, but I don't worry about it because it's at 0% interest and I can pay it off out of savings once it starts earning interest. I'd kind of like to get one of those credit cards that earns frequent flier miles and use it in place of my debit card and then pay it off every month. Anyone know which companies do the mileage promo's? Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)

I think it's Capital One that I've heard has a pretty good plan for earning miles that you can apply to any airline."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. swedishcelt 0 #8 November 11, 2005 500.00 or so is all...I will have it paid off within the year. Only reason I have it is cause of medical bills. I consider it skydiving money cause I accrued the debt while skydiving... is that the same?

That's a 14cent/gallon rebate on gas. I've given up on the rewards programs that offer a potential value, be it in gift certs and airplane vouchers. Seems like too much more work. I really should cash out my miles on my current card and get that one. That way I'll still end up getting at least SOMETHING back. At the moment though, I have a RT US ticket to use. freeflir29 0 #15 November 12, 2005 I'm a CASH money kinda guy. If I can't pay cash I don't buy it. I have A credit card that I use only when some place makes me. IE Car rental that wants to charge you an extra fee for using debit cards. Now mortgages are a differen't story. I currently owe about almost 2 1/2 years salary on real estate. SO in 3 to 4 years I hope to be debt free on that.
skymama 37 #16 November 12, 2005 None, I paid it off last month! I won't skydive on credit, but I'm sure I'll have some debt next month after my boyfriend's and daughter's birthdays and Christmas. Well, that month of being debt free was fun while it lasted! unformed 0 #17 November 12, 2005 I used to pay strictly by cash. Then I had a quarter-life crisis, took out a couple credit cards, quit working, and went on a three month bender maxing everything out and having the time of my life. Pilotman 0 #19 November 12, 2005 Just under $75,000 now although most of it is a bank loan debt, not credit card. Decided after 2 years of college to get my helicopter licence. I don't regret it but payments are quite high Chris
PhreeZone 20 #20 November 12, 2005 Was at $0 but just got a house so the initial things all went on one while I prep it for moving into. It'll be paid off in about 2 months. I've got an AA miles card that has earned me 2 tickets this year for their AASaver thing but after spring I'm looking to swap it for a card that has better rewards. I use it 90% of the time for company travel... any suggestions?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
ReBirth 0 #21 November 12, 2005 Take note of the trend. You are almost equally likely to have enormous debt as no debt. Once you have any revolving debt, the curve goes up trending toward more and more debt. Anyone carrying some debt and thinking it's ok...It can start snowballing and get away from you. I know. It's best to go cold turkey and just stop borrowing, only buy what you can afford in cash.
Muenkel 0 #22 November 13, 2005 I spent quite a few years being really irresponsible with credit cards. I carried a huge debt at one time. My credit score is good because I always paid on time and never defaulted. This past year I zero'd it all out and cancelled many accounts. I now use my debit card for almost everything. I do have 1 Master Card that I carry, but it gets paid off immediately. As someone else said, "Being debt free kicks ass!" _________________________________________ Chris
JohnMitchell 16 #23 November 13, 2005 We've got one airline card that everything goes on, including many of our monthly bills. The card is then paid off automatically, in full, every month. Makes for worry free bill management. I don't even have to pull out the checkbook and stamps anymore,or even remember to. I can spend that time skydiving. It's nice to get the occasional airline ticket for free, too.
kelel01 1 #24 November 13, 2005 I have an "enormous amount of debt", but no credit cards. All of my irresponsible spending (well, the spending that contributed to that debt) was done in college. I've since cancelled every card I had and am strictly paying them off.
