billvon 3,120 #2 November 15, 2005 There are several flavors. One is Wi-Fi (802.11b/g.) They work OK. Registration is a bit of a pain in the butt on Windows CE platforms; generally it's something like $4.99 for a one-day connection. And then you walk 200 yards and you have to re-register with a _new_ provider. Cellular systems work a lot better. Several pocket PC/phone combos will connect to the network via circuit-switched (hideously slow) 1X (reasonably fast) or broadband (very fast.) I have a broadband connection for my laptop and it's faster than a cable modem in most places. Runs about $60 a month, and works pretty much everywhere in the US.
