Pilot Price

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I am making a valiant attempt to quickly and inexpensively replace my stolen rig with used equipment. So far I have bought an aged Teardrop Classic with a Tempo 150 and nearly dead Cypres. Now I have an offer on a main canopy and would like your take on the price:

Pilot 168
DOM Feb 2003
300 jumps
colors: Magenta, White and Turquoise (ick!!!)
Price: 900 Euros (1,391.18 US Dollars)

I did some demo jumps with it and it flies like a dream and opens quickly (200 meters) but softly.

Is it a keeper?

As your gear was stolen I will sell you a pilot custom made or stock for my cost price. I will never profit off a person who has had to replace gear because of a theft. Either that or I have a Spare 35% gift voucher for aerodyne canopies lying around if you want to purchase the canopy from a distributor that you know rather than the Karnage Krew.

PM sent.

Rock Solid move!!! It's nice to see this kind of support from a dealer.

I appreciate the nice comments guys but it is nothing special.

I am certain that anyone who has had their gear stolen would be able to send an email to manufacturers such as Aerodyne who I am sure would help out with a gift voucher or Wings who would offer the military discount or a gift certificate. Most manufacturers would be considerate in a situation like this.

If you ever have your gear stolen, ask your local dealer if they can help out, I can not imagine anyone wanting to profit, however alot to have high overheads so expect them to factor those costs into the sale as I have to factor in bank fees.

If you distributor does not help out, sometimes it will be just because it costs them too much to help out, If they cant, then email your manufacturer and explain your story. I personally can say that Wings and Aerodyne have customer service that gives me instant replies during office hours so dont think it will be a long wait to hear back from them.

As long as people do not take advantage of manufacturers kindness then they will always listen.

Personally, If i ever read of anyone who has their gear stolen i let them know that I will offer them my cost prices to help them get back in the air. I believe most distributors would as the wors case for them is that they have another sale against their name.

Alot of gear has been stolen lately. It makes me wonder if such a huge investment would be worth putting a little GPS device with google tracking in the pocket that houses the reserve card when you purchase a brand new rig. I will be on my next rig. Whats an extra $200 on a $5000-$8000 purchase?

OK, I am tending towards the custom Karnage Krew Pilot offer instead of buying the used Pilot, but now I need some input on color options (and a truckload of gold bars).

Is there a thread with lots of main canopy jpgs?

P.S. I like the GPS-in-the-rig idea!;) If I had come up with that idea BEFORE my rig was stolen this thread wouldn't be here!
