Back when I was with my "crew" we coded our own tools and port sniffers in Perl, C+ and VB... I still have a limited knowledge of linux tools and some the holes... But, like I said my knowledge was self taught and once you leave the scene for any amount of time it slips away and the cracks get harder and security tighter. I'd have loved to apply. I've spent some time in Ostrava in the Czech Rep. and traveled a bit in eastern Europe. Had a massive language barrier most of the time. You can get pleasently surprised to find a native who speaks english. It's the younger generations though, the old hardliners don't.
