Floats18 0 #1 November 22, 2005 For ME444 at Purdue [Senior Year w00t] Its a 7 Cell, 3sq Foot, 2.25 Aspect Radio toting beauty. Yes she does fly! I don't think I'd trust my life to my sewing, so she'll stay with the R/C model we made, but she looks damn sexy (at least in my head). Let me know how much you think it sucks!--- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training

Floats18 0 #4 November 22, 2005 We had to build a toy for this CAD design class... so I convinced my group to build a R/C parachute guy! I had no idea how much of a BITCH it is to sew up a parachute. HOLY CRAP that ZP is slippery and I've never sewed before in my life... I better get an A--- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
Viking 0 #5 November 22, 2005 did you cut the pieces with a hot knife or scissors? congrats dude. i wouldn't have the first clue how to actually make a parachute!!! edit: isn't that how Brian Germain got his start making mini parachutes?I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin

VampireGirl 0 #11 November 22, 2005 You've gotto make it fly. I attach a picture of a scale model (don't ask me what the scale is) of a PD210 which is in the student area of Sibson (at Peterborough UK) with Kermit attached to the bottom of it. They blow a fan up onto it to inflate it and use it as a teaching aid for their students. you've gotto do something similar and post a pic! (ps, sorry for the bad quality of the photo, but it was taken with my phone) xxwww.sneale-create.com
Faber 0 #12 November 22, 2005 stop wasting your time build one in real size, and fly it.. what could posibly go wrong? after all you have your reserve Stay safe Stefan Faber
Floats18 0 #13 November 22, 2005 I've gotta build a line set and then I'll get it airborne ASAP. I've held it in front of a fan and it wanted to fly out of my hands, so I can't wait to try it out w/ the 'real' thing. Luigi already knows, I shouldn't be talking about this... its top secret We call it the 'Suicide Bomber' --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
SkydiveStMarys 0 #14 November 22, 2005 I think you should hook a GI Joe doll up to it and see if it really works!! We did that at the DZ (dropped from the jump plane) last year when my kids got a GI Joe (at Christmas time) that came witha pretty cool chute. It worked, but Joe came in and bounced, he broke his leg.......heheheheheheheheee BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. VampireGirl 0 #15 November 22, 2005 Apparently Kermit has been out of a plane too! He hee, how do you find them though! some sort of tracking device?www.sneale-create.com
SkydiveStMarys 0 #16 November 22, 2005 Joe didn't go to full altitude, he went about 4500ft, trust me when I say my kids kept an eye on him, they thought that it was too cool. We have 450 acres he was bound to show up somewhere in the landing area, PLUS it kept my kids busy for quite awhile! This is the "full size" GI Joe doll, his chute was really big, saw it at Toys R US and HAD to buy it. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. Floats18 0 #20 November 22, 2005 I'll get back to you next semester... after we get graded Seems like there might be a demand for these... I should start cranking them out. I'm going to need a sweatshop though, 'cuz sewing that one was enough for me and my ego. that and room mates frown on sewing machines... they get in the way of the kegerator--- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
IanHarrop 42 #21 November 22, 2005 So what have you built to drive that parachute? You mention an R/C device - give us more details "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
Floats18 0 #22 November 22, 2005 In a CAD design class we needed to design and build a toy w/ 'significant kinematic motion' and I couldn't think of a cooler toy w/ motion than a toy skydiver. SO I convinced my group to build an RC skydiver which will deploy and steer a mineature parachute. I helped model the body and assembly, and built the 'cute. Attached is a model of the body, but I'll get pictures of this thing flying when its all said and done. (Its due on the 15th of December) I hope it'll work like I want it to, but I know that the parachute is going to fly... if anything its just going to decend on a very straight landing pattern . The body isn't completely assembled yet, but I'll get pictures up here when we do. Its also been modified for usability after these shots were extracted, and it was manufactured in clear plastic so the colors will be different... but you'll get the idea. Most of the time engineering sucks ass, but this project has been a lot of fun! That and interviewing for full time jobs (Graduating in May), I've been flown all over the country! I'll be in Dallas on the 28th, if anyone is going to jump on Monday let me know!--- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
