Lung capacity increases. within 2 weeks to 3 months Circulation improves, walking becomes easier and lung function increases 30%. of course if you light up again, you go back to the beginning. GrendelKhan 0 #10 November 16, 2005 My theory is that by increasing my chances of a smoking related ilness/death, I am proportionatly decreasing my chances of an even more gruesome and bizarre death such as ants eating my eyes after surgery (oh, it really happened, google it if you dont believe me.) Actually, I'm of the Dennis Leary school of Smoking, I love to smoke, until they make it illegal i will continue to smoke, and I will speak out against the limitations of personal freesoms until the day I die, or until I run out of breath, which as a smoker isn't very long. Really though, the only stat that really matters when it comes to smoking: 100% of ALL deaths are caused by birth. cough cough Edit: Heres the story about the ants eating eyes damn thats gross. ReBirth 0 #11 November 16, 2005 I quit in the beginning of August after 21 years of smoking. Was easy as hell. Two weeks using nicorette and that's it. Haven't had an urge for a puff since, and I've been to many concerts, casinos, bars, and even dated smokers. Guess I was just ready. I'm not one of those reformed anti-smoker nazis now. BUT, I have to say, I never realized how really offensive it is to non smokers. I can't walk down a city street more than 20 feet without inhaling someone elses smoke. And getting on the elevator with smokers really makes you appreciate how much they stink. I'm not in favor of anti-smoking laws, but I definitely prefer to frequent non-smoking establishments these days.

Rebecca 0 #14 November 16, 2005 It's been over two years now -woo hoo! I still miss it sometimes, like after a meal or with a beer, but it's SO worth it. It's one less thing to have to think about, which is huge. No worrying about if I have enough, no runs to the store for nothing but cigs, no sitting out in the cold because you can't smoke in public places. Health benefits aside, it's just damn inconvenient to smoke. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk? freeflynick 0 #19 November 17, 2005 Don't think about this one too much.......... They say smoking a cigarette takes 2 minutes off your life........ But it takes 5 minutes to smoke one.........
