After RkyMtnHigh pointed out that my original surgery schedule would take me out of Dublin, I've gone with alternative treatment. A guy's gotta keep his priorities in orderI am not the man. yardhippie 0 #2 November 23, 2005 careful about cortisone. It really does help, but eventually, if the injury does not repair, it will only make it worse. thats what my dr told me on my shoulder a month before I had surgery on it, and after my 2nd cortisone shot. glad to hear that youre feelin better.Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
moodyskydiver 0 #3 November 23, 2005 I'm glad it helped you but please be careful with cortisone. I screwed up my knees and started in on the cortisone to keep my "priorities" together too.In the long run it caused more hurt than help because I kept straining the injury under the false sense of wellness that comes from the temporary relief cortisone provides. So since I was a dumbass in that respect, I've had to go through alot of therapy, RX knee braces (not cheap!) and the looming prospects of knee replacements in my near future. Please don't take this wrong. I'm not trying to lecture. Cortisone has its place, but not as a course of long term care especially if you had already considered surgery. I hope you heal well. benforde 0 #4 November 23, 2005 My sister, lost parts of her hips and both her femurs due to osteonecrosis at the age of 36... this was triggered by cortisone. She is now fine, and running around with the help of some very high tech alloy replacement bone parts...

masterblaster72 0 #7 November 23, 2005 I think Demerol is cool. I recently had an endoscopy done for ulcers and the doctor shot me up with some of it. He said I fell asleep with a big smile on my face. I wouldn't mind going back for another endoscopy just to get another shot of Demerol...it's really terrific stuff Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. Yeah, between cortesone, anti-inflamitories, and good pain pills I hope to put off the operation for a year-Doc was ok with my choice as long as I know that I risk increasing the damage.I am not the man. wingnut 0 #11 November 24, 2005 QuoteI am being lined up for a cortisone shot into the spine dude, "epideral spinal injections" are one thing that i found ore pain than i ever wanted but they also helped the most short of my back surgery.. had a protruding disc between l5-s1 and couldn't sit down for 3 months, after the second shot i was able to drive 18 hours home from where i was temp. at..........but unfortunatly, the shots made the iritation better but i still recived nerve damage from the disc protrusion, my leg is now partially numb.... so be carefull..... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
chuteless 1 #12 November 25, 2005 Thanks for the data. I have degenerated discs throughout my spine, and have crushed two vertebrae on different jumps. I get a nerve pinched between the vertebrae, and it won't let go. Ihope this helps some, cause the backpain is so bad its sometimes hard to get walking. Once I start, it becomes easier, but Im living on Percodan now for several years. Bill Cole

Now you don't have any excuse not to meet me for lunch The car dealer took that pic when i picked it up. My old car is actually right behind it, but since they look so similar, some people didnt even realize i got a new car. And of course i'll meet you for lunch next time you're at Ohare since it's so close and all. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
