Anvilbrother 0 #1 November 28, 2005 I put an order in to tigerdirect.com for a motherboard, AMD 64 X2 4400 CPU, 2048 memory, and an XFX GC. The processor is dual core, and the graphics is the next to best, and since it is sli I will add on to it next year. What do you think this set up will do for my FPS in games? Cornholio 0 #2 November 28, 2005 If you're gonna spend the cash on that CPU, might as well splurge a bit on the GFX card.. the 7800 GTX 256MB and 512MB sounds about right. :) Or you can do what I plan on doing and that's selling my ATI 1800XL and getting two 7800 GTs in SLI mode. It's a bit cheaper and much faster rather than getting the 7800 GTX 512 or the ATI XL 1800 XT. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! daniel_owen_uk 0 #3 November 28, 2005 Doesn't state timings on RAM but I imagine with the brand its gonna be pretty low. The GT and GTX aren't miles apart but 2xGTX in SLI would be the real ticket. Cooling wise you just going stock cooling? (wus :P) That aside looks like a nice toy, you using your existing HDD/optical? Make sure you check your PSU is up to the job.__________________ BOOM Headshot

Mostly_Harmless 0 #7 November 28, 2005 As of right now I don't know of any games taken advantage of dual cores. So anything that you play right now will not take advantage of both cores since its not optimized for it. Thats the bad news. The good news is that I believe a lot of future games (I am talking spring/summer 2006) should take advantage of that dual core and then your computer will really shine. Other than that you have one kick ass computer. With that much memory and graphics card games are going to look awesome! Just make sure you turn on AA and AF in your settings to take advantage of all that power._________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

mmytacism 0 #9 November 29, 2005 A dual-core processor and 2 gigs of RAM? Ooh, that's a sweet system. I'm envious. (: One word of advice, though: the Athlon CPUs overheat really easily. This is more of a problem with the notebook PCs, but the desktops have also been susceptible. Just make sure you monitor the temperature in your BIOS often. Then again, you probably knew that already. (:
