bertusgeert 1 #1 November 29, 2005 Ok, so I just realized something. I found a quote - T.S. Eliot -I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.- I finally realized that is where the verse in Crash Test Dummies come from! "Afternoons will be measured out Measured out, measured with Coffeespoons ans T.S. Eliot" It's funny when you stop and look at the lyrics of a song what you realize. This made me look at the lyrics for the first time and see the poetry. I am now much more apreciative... "Afternoons And Coffeespoons" What is it that makes me just a little bit queasy? There's a breeze that makes my breathing not so easy I've had my lungs checked out with X rays I've smelled the hospital hallways Someday I'll have a disappearing hairline Someday I'll wear pyjamas in the daytime Times when the day is like a play by Sartre When it seems a bookburning's in perfect order I gave the doctor my description I've tried to stick to my prescription Someday I'll have a disappearing hairline Someday I'll wear pyjamas in the daytime Afternoons will be measured out Measured out, measured with Coffeespoons ans T.S. Eliot Maybe if I could do a play-by-playback I could change the test results that I will get back I've watched the summer evenings pass by I've heard the rattle in my bronchi... --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! I can't read more than a few lines at a time because then I need to go lie down. And I've read it all dozens of times. Amazing.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

Ever. My favorite poem of all time, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone here. I have to read it aloud every time, just because it is so fucking beautiful.
