BillyVance 35 #2 November 20, 2005 QuoteFresno state 21, USC 13 Fresno State is playing very impressively. I hope they can keep it up, but the game is at USC, so I'm still betting on the bigger, faster and stronger Trojans wearing FS down late and overtaking them. Still, it would be nice to see USC lose. They been winning too damn long. I'd like to see LSU move up to #2 if USC falls. If LSU beats Ark this Friday then beats GA in the SEC championship game, and USC falls today, then LSU vs Texas should be a dandy. Of course, let's wait and see how tonight's game goes. USC still gotta play UCLA..."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
Lindercles 0 #3 November 20, 2005 i figure USC will come back and win, that's why i tried to get the thread in while i still could. In fact, as i type this USC is about to score their second touchdown of the third quarter. Truth is, I want USC to keep winning until we play them in the Rose bowl. As a Texas fan, I want to see us beat the best to be the best. Trojans just scored another touchdown. And yeah, USC still has to play UCLA, but I really don't think UCLA is that good. Especially not after the whipping they took from Arizona.

Lindercles 0 #6 November 20, 2005 USC and UT would be so perfect in the Rose bowl for so many reason. 1.) They're the two best teams in the country, period. even if USC were to lose tonight (FS just scored again, now it's 34-28) 2.) That game would put all of the top heisman contenders on the field at the same time, that's just classic. 3.) Texas and California HATE each other anyway, making that game all the more emotionally charged

I believe that is what will happen, barring a shocking conclusion... The Trojans have an unbelievable offense. Texas has a better defense and one helluva playmaker at QB... Classic... Could be one of the greatest national championship battles of all time. Lindercles 0 #11 November 20, 2005 don't bother. reggie bush just burned the entire defense for a 50 yard td. I'll be shocked if Fresno state has the guts to come back from that. then again, they've been shocking me all night

Lindercles 0 #14 November 20, 2005 my vote for heisman (if i had one) obviously goes to vince young, but i'd vote for leinart before bush. bush is a great athlete and has the capability to break big plays at any given moment, but just isn't quite the every down back i think you need to be to win the heisman. he'll get at least 100 yards a game, but 80 of those will be on 2 plays. I think a workhorse, 6-8 yards every down back deserves the awards, but that's just my opinion
Lindercles 0 #15 November 20, 2005 fresno state scores a td. reggie bush fumbles the kick off return, one play later fs scores another td to go ahead. ladies and gentlemen, we have a game.
Lindercles 0 #16 November 20, 2005 what a freaking game. heartbreaking to see it end the way it did, but much credit to fresno state. the best game usc has seen all year, second only to notre dame. BUT, i'm actually pretty stoked about it because that just means we still get to knock off the defending champions in the rose bowl.
lawrocket 3 #17 November 21, 2005 I made the drive from Fresno to Los Angeles to attend a certain athletic event there on Saturday night. I think I was the only Fresno-dwelling individual at that game. (LA Kings v. Colorado Avalanche). On the way, however, was a veritable convoy of Fresno Bulldogs supporters. I've never seen that much Bulldog pride in Fresno, but there it was every 5 minutes down the I-99 and I-5. At the hockey game, the guy next to me was periodically checking on the score. I was calling my wife between periods to check on the score. After the second period was halftime. The crowd around me engaged in some talk about USC being down. The consensus was that USC down at halftime was nothing new, and that the Bulldogs would be held to less than ten points while USC would score at least 28 in the second half. The first few minutes of the third quarter seemed to bear that out. After the game was over (Pavol Demitra had a hat trick on a free hat giveaway night - must have been 2000 hats thrown onto the ice) I left and my buddy and I dropped by a new bar in Long Beach to catch the end of the game. It was a new place, and there were only 8 or 10 people there. I was shocked to see Fresno State take the lead. One that ultimately would not last. It was quite a thing. The feeling I got from a lot of folks in LA the next day is that Fresno State is not a team that anyone will be licking their chops to play. An article in the LA times sports section actually suggested that USC find a lesser team to fill out it's schedule. While I do live in Fresno, I don't consider myself a Bulldog guy. But, I have a LOT of respect for coach Pat Hill. His attitude is, "We will play any team, anywhere, any time." (There was a lot of behind the scenes work to set up this game - USC has been avoiding FSU since the Freedom Bowl in 1992 (I think 1992 - maybe 1993). It's nice to see FSU - a WAC team - get some pretty hefty respect. My wife is hotter than your wife.
BillyVance 35 #18 November 29, 2005 And look what happened to Fresno State in its next game, losing to Nevada, I think... Go figure... lawrocket 3 #19 November 29, 2005 QuoteAnd look what happened to Fresno State in its next game, losing to Nevada, I think... Go figure... Exactly. I'm not really a Fresno State fan. I think they let down because they'd already secured a bowl bid. But it's a shame that they have this big bowl and they didn't even win the WAC. My wife is hotter than your wife.
