cocheese 0 #6 November 22, 2004 1st and only GAS powered plane i have is the Tower Hobbies Voyager MkII.Low wing aerobatic "2nd plane". It rips, but i can't decide on the next one. Aerobat or Viper 500.Aerobat can take a crash and is easy to fix.( buy parts at Home Depot) .. or the Viper which assembles easy and may be the fastest ARF out there.? Any advice ? cocheese 0 #8 November 22, 2004 If you're not in GAS too deep, go for the foam elctric flying wings (Zagi type). They are simple and can take a crash.

leroydb 0 #10 November 22, 2004 I already know type of plane I want next... they call it "foamy" this thing was so light and had an electric motor. It could power slide (using the rudder) and hover it had so much power. You could fly this in your back yard if ya wanted...Leroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio...
cocheese 0 #11 November 22, 2004 Foamies rule. I've had combat with a Big Air kite. But don't try combat with gas planes, you'll both lose !Pm me about foamies, i'll set ya straight. I've had 2 zagi's , a Unicorn, and a few mini speed wings.

Ron 10 #15 November 22, 2004 Quotebeen playing with one. what your fave gas powered model (no baywatch jokes) and why Great Planes Stick .60 with a .91 OS 4 stroke. All around great plane. I can hover it like a helicopter or fly it around like a trainer, or Buzz the field. My buddy has a 60 and 40 sized and we fly formation. Total planes I have(That I can recall): 1. GWS Mustang. Foamie, way underpowered. 2. Zaggi, Fun, but a good brushless setup will run 200+ for it. 3. World Models Zero with retracts...fun, but retracts on grass suck. 4. Great Planes Ultimate. Biplane. Built it in FedEx colors. 5. Great Planes Skybolt Biplane. (like a Pitts) 6. Sig Hog Bipe. 7. Cap 232. 8. Great Planes 1/5 scale Extra 9. Trainer 10 Profile Plane 11. Great Planes U Can Do. 12. 2 Goldberg Chipmunks One built and one still in the box. 13. 1/3 Scale Pitts. (Pic is not of mine, but the same plane. 14. My new toy a 1/3 scale Extra with a 105 inch wingspan. Paid 1,000 bucks for it, it was flown once by the guy who built it...He was afraid he would crash it....I have no such fear. I am sure Kallend has more, but I have only been doing this about 18 mths, give me time. If anyone is ever in Zhills and wants to try it, I bought a trainer to teach my GF, and she never learned, so I let others fly it."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,

Either a real plane like a Cessna, or an Ultralight. I have a pilots license, so I am looking at the Sport class planes. kallend 2,148 #17 November 22, 2004 I have about 20 RC planes and helis, 14 with radios installed ready to fly right now. My current favorite is an electric helicopter that I can fly indoors. I also have one plane (original design) powered by 2 "F" rocket motors, that hits around 220mph going straight up. www.iit.edu/~kallend/rcmod.html for some pics. (Edited to fix clicky)... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #18 November 15, 2005 Tim Tennant and I both had a "crash-a-thon" at Raeford this weekend with our AeroBird Extreme electrics. It was great fun and the other people on the dropzone were fascinated that we could fix them up and get them flying again and again after some MASSIVE crashes. All total now, I have destroyed two complete fuselages (Tim's first is toast now too), three tails, and two main wings. We both just ordered new fuselages (they come with the motor and servos already installed), extra tails, and extra wings. As entire fuselages cost right at $50, I don't mind flying "too much plane" right now. I can drink fifty bucks worth of beer in a couple of hours in the bar and this is much more entertaining. SkymonkeyONE 4 #19 November 15, 2005 I have to add that Joey D'Annunzio has one now too (the next smaller one) and actually flew his an entire day before busting it too bad to fix. His new fuselage is on the way too! He was reportedly flying it so well that he was flying it through the trees at the DZ. Chuck

homer 0 #22 November 15, 2005 I love my electric plane. It's an F-27B Stryker. It's cheap and replacement parts are only a couple bucks if you crash it and need to replace a piece. Oh, and it flies fast with the 480 motor. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByCategory/Product/Default.aspx?ProdID=PKZ1200 CSA #699 Muff #3804
Glipazide 0 #23 November 15, 2005 I have a brand new Tiger Trainer ARF I will let go cheap. It is like the PT 40 Trainers.. I have an engine somewhere for it as well.. Think it is a .45.http://sexygirlabs.com/url]
cocheese 0 #24 November 16, 2005 Does the Stryker take a crash very well ? How bout the speed of rolls, climb rate etc. ?
homer 0 #25 November 16, 2005 Well my stryker is currently in several pieces after a VERY BAD nose dive while flying down wind. I was trying to adjust the trim and over did it as I diverted my attention from the plane for just a second but it was to late to pull up and power back. It will require a lot of glue but I'm sure it will be fly able in no time. If anything I can always order the new parts which are cheap. As for crashes it will hold up depending on how fast it was flying and at what angle it stuck the ground. There are two control settings so you can limit the input until you get the hang of the controls. With just a flip of a switch you can go into expert mode and have full and unlimited control to do acrobatics. This is my first RC plane and I personally think the things flies like a bat-out-of-hell at full throttle. I hadn't tried to fly it expert mode yet as I was still trying to get the hang of the controls. CSA #699 Muff #3804
