Right now on TLC is Sports Disasters. Later in the show they're going to have a video of a tandem sidespin (and awesome commentary to go with it I'm sure). Can anyone record it and put it online?

I was fix'n to post about this.

From the intro clip shown, it doesn't look like a true side spin, it looks like a drogue that was wrapped around something and they started spinning. Or possibly the same but backwards. We'll find out shortly.

Too bad he didn't get that hook knife off his right leg and "fix" things.

I think it was an Instructor from Sibson that it happend to.

It my memory serves me right he got a bravery award or summat.

I cant recall his name fully.
Maybe it was Ron.

He got an award for completely screwing up? Wow. The video guy deserves recognition, that was good flying and quick thinking, seeing how another minute of no blood to the brain could have been bad.

Every TI has had students go out stiff legged like that, its really not a big deal, you fly your body and it doesn't really matter.

They lived. The video guy grabbed some sack, flew up and pulled the tandem pair's reserve.

Honestly, I hope the TI had a good long sit & think as well as a good long talking to. I'm not saying that he couldn't continue to be a TI, hell, everyone screws up, but I hope to god he realizes what he did and how bad it was.

That vid made the rounds years ago under the title of "Kill Cord Tandem." It might have even been before AADs on tandems. Good thing the student didn't cheap out on getting a video . . .
