sunshine 2 #28 November 30, 2005 I meant to PM Tigra but referenced something in your post. Sometimes i'm sooo stupid. Me & Tigra are friends thats why i was sharing this with her, but if you really wanna know... Apparently blue is the color of police officers. So now when i see blue lights i'll think of my sister. If you didn't know, she died last month while on duty. I never publicy posted about it, but there are 2 links in my sigline. I no longer hate blue lights. I just read one of the memorials someone wrote on my sister's webpage. It's beautiful. Here's part of it: "I have decorated the outside of my home entirely with blue lights. One of those lights will be lit in your honor every night from now up until New Years. It is my way of saying that you have not been forgotten." ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!

PLFXpert 0 #32 November 30, 2005 Quotedecorate the house with some wreaths, then spotlight the entire That's hilarious. I do that I put the big beautiful (real) wreath in the center w/ a big red bow and spotlight it. If it's any consolation---it's a GREEN spotlightPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back. "Here's my decorations !" _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ HA! Every year I try this, but my wife seems to have "issues" and demands blah blah... One year I put my "Bart Simpson" doll on the tree to serve as an "angel." The funny thing is she didn't make a fuss about it and take it down. I do have a warm spot for blue lights. I usally string a few colored strands along the porch rail, and arrange two blue strands in a cross shape near the door. It really stands out in contrast to my neighbors, who put a lot of effort into their massive displays. And, I was just being silly with that remark about white lights being "tacky." Sometimes they can look quite nice. I was responding to the people who say the same thing about colored lights. So, real tree or artificial? Stupid question, I guess. Of COURSE a real tree... billvon 3,114 #36 December 2, 2005 >So, real tree or artificial? To me, it doesn't really matter. An evergreen tree used as a christmas tree is a symbol of eternal life; a tree that does not have to 'die' every winter. Given that, cutting down a live tree, putting it in your living room for a few weeks, then throwing it out sorta damages that spirit. An artificial tree is a lot closer to the 'eternal life' symbology by those standards. When we lived in NY, I always bought a balled tree, then replanted it outside after christmas. Not only more fitting of a symbol, but it was a nice record of our christmases in our house. Unfortunately I can't do that in San Diego.

My parents used to buy those live trees and plant them afterwards. Only three has survived. One with severe lightning damage, another that has reached a height of approximately 60 feet (white pine), and the other still maintains a perfect cone shape after 20 years...
